# How to...

## **1. How to reset your password?**

Reset your password following the recommendations from the ‘Changing password’ section:

## **2. How to find the Order ID / Position ID?**

1. Open the Positions/Working orders panel;&#x20;
2. Right-click on any column name;
3. Select the Position ID/Order ID from the list.

## **3. How to execute a partial close?**

* Select the position to be closed from the Positions panel. Right-click and select ‘Close position’;
* You can also double click on the position to call the 'Close position' dialog window. Select ‘Quantity to close’ to execute a partial close of the position;

* Or simply place a reversed order for the same instrument.

## **4. How to place an OCO order?**

An OCO order is a combination of a Stop order and a Limit order. You can set prices for both of these orders and place 2 orders at the same time:

* Place an OCO order by selecting OCO in the Order type section of the Order entry panel;

* You can also place an OCO order using Visual trading directly on the chart.

## **5. How to place a trailing stop?**

* Place a Trailing stop order by selecting Trailing stop in the 'Order type' section of the Order entry panel;

* You can place Closing Trailing stop directly from the chart, using Visual trading functionality and modifying an order or a position in the same way.

## **6. How to add a price alert?**

1. Open the Alerts panel by clicking on the corresponding![](/files/-MgpRSwv057llOTVjxBw)button at the header of the terminal;
2. Setup conditions which will trigger your alert and finally select the actions to be taken.

**7. How to disaggregate the Market depth?**

1. Open settings of the Market depth panel;
2. Select the 'View' section of the 'General' tab. Select the 'By order' option in the drop-down list of the 'View by' setting. Click Apply. &#x20;

**8. How to show filled orders on the chart?**

1. Select the ‘Visual trading’ section in the Chart settings;
2. Tick on the 'Filled orders' box to make filled orders visible on the chart.

* Click on ‘Analysis tools’ and select the 'VWAP' from the list;
* You can enable VWAP on a Chart, Market depth, Scalper, Matrix and Order Entry panels;

## **10. How to find a volume by price?**

In VelocityTrader there are few options to view the volume by price:

* The Market depth panel allows to view the volume per each price level;
* Info Window in the Chart panel contains the volume value;
* To plot Volume bars on the chart, select 'Volume bars' in the Analysis tools.

## **11. How to track the auction price at opening?**

* Right-click on any column name of the Watchlist;
* Select the 'Indicative auction price' from the list;
* A column named 'Indicative auction price' should appear.

## **12. How to open multiple charts?**

You have two options here:

## **13. How to color brokerages in the Market depth?**

1. Open settings of the Market depth panel;

## **14. How to add a previous close line on the chart?**

1. Open the context menu of the chart panel;
2. Select ‘View’ -> ‘Previous close’.

## **15. How to plot a chart within the Scalper?**

1. Open the Scalper settings from the context menu of the panel;
2. Open the ‘Time & Sales chart’ tab;
3. Select ‘Trades & Quotes’ from the drop-down list of the 'Mode' section;

## **16. How to enable DDE Link?**

1. Open the context menu of the desired panel with DDE link;
2. Click on Export and select Excel from the list;
3. Make sure to check the ‘Synchronize’ checkbox;
4. Click Export.

## **17. How to show time to next bar?**

1. Right-click on the Chart panel;
2. Select ‘View’;
3. Click on the ‘Time to next bar’ option to enable the countdown visible.

## **18. How to modify a pending order?**

1. Right-click on a pending order in the Working orders panel and select ‘Modify order’;
2. Use the editable boxes to change quantity, order price, time in force, and the OCO order. To specify a new order price, use the Price field; the Current price field shows the market price.&#x20;
3. Click ‘Modify’ when done.

# Getting started


# System requirements

VelocityTrader platform does not have minimum requirements to run. Though please be advised that the following parameters are recommended:

## **Single account trading**

CPU: 2 GHz or higher;

RAM: 2 GB or more;

Available disk space: 50 MB for the software and 500 MB for history cache;

Operating System: Windows 8.1/ 10;

MISC: Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7 +.

## **Automated trading**

CPU: 3 GHz or higher;

RAM: 4 GB or more;

Available disc space: 80 MB for the software and 500 MB for history cache.

The rest is similar to the single account trading.


# Installation and updates

VelocityTrader Desktop App performs automatic updates, meaning you don't need to search and install and worry about the latest updates of the software. The average download size is 30 MB.

To install VelocityTrader Desktop App simply run the .exe file and select the installation directory. Click Install and wait for the VelocityTrader to complete the installation for you.

## How to update VelocityTrader Desktop App?

When you launch your VelocityTrader Desktop App, an Update manager will launch an automatic update. Thus, you don't need to install the latest updates of VelocityTrader manually.

## How to Uninstall VelocityTrader from your PC?

To uninstall the VelocityTrader, go to Start -> Programs -> 'Name of the terminal' -> Uninstall. You can also uninstall VelocityTrader from the Control panel.

Uninstalling VelocityTrader won't remove default settings or connections. These data are stored in your profile folder, which is located in one of the following locations, depending on your operation system:

Windows Server 2016, XP - Documents and Settings\\\<UserName>\Application Data\Folder with terminal.

Windows Vista (no longer supported), Windows 7 (no longer supported), Win 8.1/10 - Users\\\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Folder with terminal.

After re-installing VelocityTrader into your PC, the newly installed VelocityTrader App will parse the data from your profile folder.

## **How to Login?**

Launch the VelocityTrader Desktop App and enter your credentials to log into your terminal.

## **How to change your password?**

Passwords can be changed anytime by using the following methods:

1. Before logging in to the App:

If you do not remember your password, simply click on the 'Forgot password' and follow the next steps:

* Enter your Login ID in the Login field;
* Enter your email address in the Email field;
* Click Recover to get your recovery key;
* Check your email for the recovery key and enter it into the Key field;
* Put down your new password and click Recover.
* After logging in to the App:

Go to your Account menu on the top toolbar![](/files/-MgF4BqPs6UMsLKrz8Zv):

Select 'Change password' to change your password used to login to the VelocityTrader App.

Select 'Change trading password' to change your password used before performing any trading operation.

To change the password:

* Enter your current password in the Current password field;
* Enter your new password in the New password field;
* Re-enter your new password in the Confirm new password field;
* Click OK to activate your new password.

**Errors and troubleshooting**

You might see some warning messages when changing your password. Below please find a warning message and its interpretation:

1. Incorrect current password or login - this message is displayed if your entered old password is incorrect or the user does not exist in the system.
2. Incorrect new password: you cannot use the same password - this message is displayed if your entered new password is similar to the old one.
3. New password contains prohibited symbols - this message is displayed if your entered new password contains prohibited symbols (for example, & etc.).
4. Password cannot be the same as login - this message is displayed if your entered new password matches the login.
5. Please enter new password - this message is displayed when new password has not been sent to the user or the new password field is empty.
6. Incorrect new password: password should contain 1 number and 1 uppercase letter - this message is displayed if your new password does not meet the required level of password security (To keep yourself safe and protected, please enter a stronger and more secure password).
7. Incorrect new password: password should contain at least 8 chars and numbers - this message is displayed if your new password does not meet the required level of password security (To keep yourself safe and protected, please enter a stronger and more secure password).
8. Incorrect new password: password should contain at least 8 symbols including chars, numbers and special symbols - this message is displayed if your new password does not meet the required level of password security (To keep yourself safe and protected, please enter a stronger and more secure password).


# General settings

The General Settings menu is used to customize and change general properties of VelocityTrader App. To open it, click on the![](/files/-MguhF3W2hdnE8373KvN)button at the top toolbar of the App.

## **General**

* Language - defines the default language of the UI. To set up your preferred language simply select it from the list;
* Info bar - check to display a comprehensive info bar over your Workspaces;
* Enable sounds - check to allow sound notifications;
* Synchronize cursor - synchs cursor among charts;
* Mouse wheel - select the action to be performed when scrolling the mouse wheel, it's either scrolling or zooming in and out.

## **View**

* Rounded average open price – check to round open price of positions in Watchlist, Positions, Filled orders, Market depth and other panels (tick size=instrument tick size);
* Display quantity in lots – check to view orders quantity in lots, uncheck to view in units;
* Abbreviate volumes – check to abbreviate volume values in all panels. For example: 1000 will be displayed as 1K, and 1000000 – 1M;
* Reverse buttons order – check to reverse trading buttons into Sell/Buy pattern;
* Tooltips – check to display all tooltips in the application, uncheck to hide. The function is enabled by default.

## **Trading defaults**

* Account – specifies your default account, for multi-account users only;
* Symbol – specifies your default symbol. The default symbol will be shown whenever you load the Chart panel or the Order entry panel;
* Set SL/TP values in offset (for new orders) – check to display order prices in offset, uncheck to display in absolute values;
* Show offset in – allows to select one of the available modes for offset displaying:
  * Ticks;
  * Ticks (fractional ticks for Forex);
  * Points.
* Use stop limit instead of stop – check to place stop limit orders instead of stop orders. When checked activates the 'Limit offset, ticks' field;
* Limit offset, ticks – use to adjust the default quantity of ticks for offset of a limit price. Active only if 'Use stop limit instead stop' is checked;
* Order type – use to specify an order type, available values: Market, Limit, Stop, Stop Limit, Tr. stop, OCO, Manual;
* Market/Limit(Stop limit)/Stop Validity – use to set up validity for Market/Limit (Stop Limit)/Stop orders respectively. Operates in both auto and manual trading;
* Types manager – use to set your default parameters per order.

Open 'Types manager' to apply additional settings to orders. Select the market - Forex, Futures, Equities, etc. to set the Default lot values. It is also possible to override default lots values for separate symbols by adding them to the symbol types tree using "+" button. In order to apply symbol type default lots settings, just delete symbol from the tree using context menu:

* SL/TP default offset, ticks – specifies a default value of offset field for SL/TP;
* User quantity coefficient – is a default increment applied to all quantity counters;
* Price increment (arrow), ticks – determines the increment value (e.g. the Limit price field in the Order entry panel) when pressing the Up Arrow (^) key;
* Default lots setup – allows enabling default lot sizes for orders of selected symbol types or specific symbols which will be available in OE section.

If 'Show offset in = Ticks (fractional ticks for Forex)', then options 'SL/TP default offset, ticks' in the Forex instrument type will be displayed in decimal view and in the corresponding format. For example, 10 ticks will be displayed as 1.0, and 50 ticks as 5.0, depending on which value is set in the option. If 'Show offset in' is NOT 'Ticks (fractional ticks for Forex)', values of the options 'SL/TP default offset, ticks' are displayed by default, e.g. 10 ticks, 50 ticks.

## Confirmations

In Confirmations section all of the options are fairly intuitive:

* Confirm order placement - check if you want to confirm each order placement;
* Confirm order cancellation - check if you want to confirm each order cancellation;
* Confirm order/positions modification - check if you want to confirm each order/position modification;
* Confirm position closing - check if you want to confirm each position closing;
* Confirm position reversing - check if you want to confirm each position reversing;
* Confirm alert remove - check if you want to confirm every alert removing;
* Open deal tickets on workspace - check if you want to confirm the opening of deal tickets on a workspace;
* Show deal tickets in application tray - determines whether alerts are displayed in the application tray. If false, deal tickets are not shown in the tray, but remain available in the Event log.

## **Warnings**

* Warn if wrong order – if checked, you will get a warning message in case of placing order with incorrect parameters;
* Warn if today's volume exceeds - allows to select today volume level at which the system will display a warning message;
* Warn if order quantity exceeds – allows to select a quantity level at which the system will display a warning message;
* Warn if order capital exceeds – allows to select an order capital level at which the system will display a warning message;
* Warn if available funds less – allows to select available funds level at which the system will display a warning message;
* Warn if today's gross less – allows to get a warning message in case if a level of today gross is less than in set parameter;
* Show symbol halt warnings – if checked, you will get a warning message in case a trading halt on symbol occurs;
* Warn if close Strategy manager with active strategies – if checked, you will get a warning message in case Strategy manager is closed with active strategies;
* Warn if identical subsequent order is placed (sec) – if checked, you will get a warning message in case of placing an identical subsequent order during the specified time period.&#x20;
* Show overnight margin notification message – if checked, you will get a warning message in case if a position is transferred overnight.

If you have open positions on symbols which have overnight coefficients, you will get overnight margin notification message "Warning: on 12:49 Exchange will be closed. The margin requirements will be recalculated with the overnight coefficients before closing".

The overnight warning message shows the following items: Account (Account for which the margin coefficients are switched to overnight), Margin available, Maintenance margin (based on overnight coefficients), Overnight margin available.

Overnight margin available = Balance + all risks - Overnight total maint. req.

If Overnight margin available < 0, user will get a message "You don’t have enough margin for overnight, we force close some positions and cancel orders".

# Hotkeys

Hotkey is a key or a combination of keys providing quick access to a particular function. The same functionality can be activated using the mouse by selecting the functionality in a menu, but using the equivalent hotkey is much faster. The description below is given within the bounds of each panel.

Accounts

View report – allows viewing a report of account activity. The certain account in the panel should be chosen to make the hotkey work.

## Chart

Display in full screen mode – allows displaying the chart in the full screen mode.

Change chart style – allows changing style of the symbol price movements: candle, line, bar, dots, etc.

Zoom in – allows zooming in the chart.

Zoom out – allows zooming out the chart.

Auto/Manual scaling – allows choosing Auto or Manual modes of scaling.

To Last Quote – moves the chart to the last quote.

Mouse trading – activates trading using mouse.

Show/Hide info window – shows or hides info window.

Show/Hide crosshair – shows or hides the crosshair.

Add indicator – opens the screen for adding an indicator.

Remove drawings – allows to remove drawings from the chart.

Show filled orders – allows displaying filled orders on the chart;

Show/Hide grid – shows and hides the grid on the chart.

Show open positions – allows displaying opened positions on the chart;

Show volume – shows the volume profile on the chart.

Show working orders – \_\*\*\_allows displaying working orders on the chart;

Set period (Tick, 1 m, 5 m, 15 m, 30 m, 1 H, 4 H, 1 D, 1 W, 1 Month, 1 Y) – allows specifying the timeframe.

Object manager Indicators – allows evoking the window with settings of indicators.

Object manager Drawings – allows evoking window with settings of drawings.

Object manager Overlays – allows evoking window with settings of overlays.

Draw Line – allows drawing a line on a chart.

Draw Vertical line – allows drawing a vertical line on a chart.

Draw Horizontal line – allows drawing a horizontal line on a chart.

Draw Comments – allows drawing comments on a chart.

Draw Fibonacci retracement – allows drawing Fibonacci retracement on a chart.

Draw Fibonacci expansion – allows drawing Fibonacci expansion on a chart.

Draw Fibonacci arc – allows drawing Fibonacci arc on a chart.

Draw Fibonacci time goal analysis – allows drawing Fibonacci time goal analysis on a chart.

Draw Fibonacci fans – allows drawing Fibonacci fans on a chart.

Connections – opens the screen ‘Connections’.

Show settings – opens the screen with settings.

Show hotkeys – opens the screen with settings of hotkeys.

New Chart panel – allows opening a new Chart panel.

New OE panel – allows opening a new Order entry panel.

New Working orders panel – allows opening a new Working orders panel.

New Positions panel – allows opening a new Positions panel.

Search in panels – evokes search window inside of the chosen panel. Click on the chosen panel to allow the hotkey work.

## Grid Group

Grid fullsize panel – allows gridding the fullsize panel.

## Market depth

Cancel last order on selected instrument – allows cancelling the last order on the selected instrument.

Cancel all active orders on selected instrument – allows cancelling all active orders on the selected instrument.

Place Sell order with amount equal to existed position – allows placing order with side ‘Sell’ with amount equal to the existed position without regard to the quantity which is set. Other parameters (Order type, Validity, Price) are taken from the panel.

Place Buy order with amount equal to existed position – allows placing order with side ‘Buy’ with amount equal to the existed position without regard to the quantity which is set. Other parameters (Order type, Validity, Price) are taken from the panel.

Buy market with amount equal to existed position – allows to open a position with parameters equal to the existed position with Buy side.

Sell market with amount equal to existed position – allows to open a position with parameters equal to the existed position with Sell side.

Cancel Buy order(s) closest to the last price – in case of existence of two orders of different price, the order which is closer to the last price is cancelled. In case of existence of two or more orders of the same price, all orders are cancelled because they are equidistant from the last price.

Cancel Sell order(s) closest to the last price – in case of existence of two orders of different price, the order which is closer to the last price is cancelled. In case of existence of two or more orders of the same price, all orders are cancelled because they are equidistant from the last price.

Place Buy order – allows placing Buy order according to the parameters of the order which are set at the panel.

Place Sell order – allows placing Sell order according to the parameters of the order which are set at the panel.

Prepare LMT Order – allows activating the field for entering the value of LMT order.

Place Buy order with working qty. 1, 2, 3 – allows placing Buy order with working quantity specified in first/second/third field of working quantities in Market Depth/Hotkey trading settings without regard to the quantity which is set. Other parameters (Order type, Validity, Price) are taken from the panel. The setting ‘Display quantity in lots’ – if true, the quantity which is set at the panel is applied. If false, the quantity ‘working qty.’ \* ‘lot size’ will be applied depending on the chosen instrument.

Place Sell order with working qty. 1, 2, 3 – allows placing Sell order with working quantity specified in first/second/third field of working quantities in Market Depth/Hotkey trading settings without regard to the quantity which is set. ## Matrix

Cancel all active orders on selected instrument – allows cancelling all active orders on the selected instrument.

Cancel last order on selected instrument – allows cancelling last order on the selected instrument.

Cancel Buy order(s) closest to the last price – in case of existence of two orders of different price, the order which is closer to the last price is cancelled. In case of existence of two or more orders of the same price, all orders are cancelled because they are equidistant from the last price.

Open Buy OE – opens Order entry with default state ‘Buy’.

Open Sell OE – opens Order entry with default state ‘Sell’.

Place order – allows placing an order with the parameters which are chosen in the panel.

## Panels

Help – allows opening the article in Knowledge Base about the panel which is in the focus.

Show panel settings – opens the screen of panel settings.

## Positions

Close position – allows closing a chosen position.

Modify position – allows modifying a chosen position.

View position history – allows viewing position history.

## Super DOM

Cancel last order on selected instrument – allows cancelling the last order on the selected instrument.

Cancel all active orders on selected instrument – allows cancelling all active orders on the selected instrument.

Cancel Buy order(s) closest to the last price – allows cancelling Buy order(s) closest to the last price.

To change the width of a column, simply move the mouse over the column border in the header row to see the cursor change to a double-sided arrow. Then click and drag the border to resize the column.

## **Displaying columns**

Right-clicking on any column header displays a list of columns that are available in the panel. Only columns that are checked will be visible. To display a column just place a checkmark by the desired column title.

## **Reordering columns**

User can rearrange columns in tables by moving them to new locations. Click on a column header and drag the column to the desired location in the table.

## Filtering

Move cursor over the column header and click on Filter button![](/files/-MgF4BnN_1AITgb1bHgp) to choose the filter criteria in opened window:

## Sorting

Table data can be sorted by any column. Clicking on a column header sorts the data in descending order. To sort in ascending order, click on the header once again. When data is sorted, special icon appears in the header showing the sorting direction.

# Workspaces

A workspace is a particular configuration of panels, toolbars, charts and/or table layouts that makes up trading environment. The application for Desktop provides a predefined default workspace and allows to create custom workspaces either by modifying the default settings or by creating a new workspace from scratch. Custom workspaces can be saved as .wrk files and reopened whenever required.

The application for Desktop will automatically load the default workspace upon startup.

After making changes to a workspace, it becomes a custom workspace.

All your workspaces are located in the Desktop terminal installation directory C:\Users\user\Documents\VelocityTrader x64\My workspaces

To have quick access to this folder click on the button ‘More’ at the top of the terminal and choose ‘Open data folder’:

Custom workspaces will automatically save changes when closing the application for Desktop. While working with the terminal every 10 minutes all opened workspace are saved automatically without confirmations.

## Keeping multiple workspaces open

During session, several workspaces can be loaded and kept open simultaneously. All opened workspaces are shown in the bottom of panel. User can switch between the open workspaces by toggling the tabs.

Getting a Blank Workspace

Double click on the workspace tab allows to rename it. Clicking on the button Workspace storage ![](/files/-MgF4DEjjklzgvP9CEc-) you can see the list of all your workspaces. It allows you to load or remove workspaces.

## Workspace manager

Click on the button![](/files/-MgF4DEkvdPBVk7c_MKi)which is located inside of the workspace tab![](/files/-MgF4DEl6RRIrYPkCmDg) to open workspace manager. It allows you to clone or rename the chosen workspace:

* Clone - allows creating the same workspace as current;
* Rename - allows changing title of current workspace.

If workspace is locked, then all panels which are opened through main or context menu, as well as through instrument toolbar, will be opened in the detached form.


# Arranging panels

User can create own trading environment by displaying/hiding and rearranging panels. To build a workspace from scratch, click on the button![](/files/-MgF4DEhwiJPzf8IMzbt) at the status bar and blank workspace will appear. Then open the panels which will be used in Trading terminal and arrange them as described below.

## Attaching and detaching panels

There are two main location types for all panels:

* Attached – panel is located in some place of workspace.
* Detached – panel is located separately and can be used independently of any workspace.

Each panel has default location. Some panels are attached by default, others are detached. Default settings created on base of target usage. To change the location click on the control![](/files/-MgF4BJlfol-mQC3ueJ7)which is available in the header of each panel. The following options can be available in the opened menu:

* Attach – allows attaching panel. After clicking panel will attach to default place. Then user can move it to any place of the workspace. After taking header of the panel the following buttons appear:

Drag the panel into the button to preview it's next position.

Attached panels can be arranged into tabbed areas where one or more panels are conveniently fit under/over/beside other panels.

* Detach – allows detaching panel.
* Autohide – allows hiding panels. After clicking Autohide, panel hides to a label pinned along the edge of the main window. When moves the mouse over the label, the panel expands halfway into the workspace. Click Autohide again to expand the panel. This option is available only for attached panels.
* On top – allows seeing the panel on top of all others. Applicable only for detached panels.
* Help – allows opening information about current panel in VelocityTrader Guide.
* Duplicate panel – allows duplicating the chosen panel.
* Show toolbar – allows showing toolbar of the chosen panel.

  Clicking on the button![](/files/-MgF4BJuXnIykfNlazi2) allows opening attached panel in fullscreen mode. Available only for Chart.

Note. Any detached panel can be closed with the "Esc" hotkey. Also, this action is valid for any other modal or pop-up screens: all sorts of Settings, Confiramtions, etc. Basically, for those screens that do not have the resizing feature.

## Creating tabbed areas

Creating tabbed groups of panels helps save screen space and maximizes efficiency. To make a panel appear as a tab, drag it over another panel (or tabbed area).

## Linking panels

One of the advantages of the Desktop terminal is linking panels. Currently two types of link are available ![](/files/-MgF4BJvfF0zZIvqj3Fg):

* **Symbol link**![](/files/-MgF4BJwFnnxvqLHrBzM)– when panels are linked, selecting a symbol in one of the panels synchronizes other panels in the group to display information relevant to that symbol. For example, when Order entry panel is linked to a Watchlist panel, the symbol displayed in the Order entry panel will be changed in accordance with the symbol selected in the Watchlist. The links are identified by a color:

To link two or more panels together:

1. Click on the link icon in one of the panels you want to link.
2. From the drop-down menu, select one of the colors. The button changes to display the color.
3. Repeat the same procedure for the other panels to be linked, selecting the same color.

To unlink a panel from a group, click the panel's link icon and select 'None'.

* **Account link** –

  linking by account is available by checking an icon![](/files/-MgpRPp-Rq_uG_RQdfJH)located at the top right corner of Accounts widget.

By clicking on this icon, it turns green![](/files/-MgF4BK-HR7MUiM4qqOy) and appears in all panels which contain Account lookup. This function filters your positions and orders by account. When Account Link is checked, then changing the account is possible via Account lookup of any panel. The account will be switched synchronously in all panels.

## Searching elements

All table panels in the application have a quick searching function. Traders can search for the needed items using:

* hot button combination "Ctrl + F";
* "Search…" menu item by selecting it from the Context menu.

  After evoking a search by one of the methods listed above, the following lookup will be activated![](/files/-MgF4BK0LXTnsgDZEEl7), where users can type symbol(s), number(s), a word or a part of it in order to find it in the table. To close the search lookup, click on the button![](/files/-MgF4BK2846K954tyg5i).

Back and Forward buttons![](/files/-MgF4BK62P9mJif9NDPk)– allow to move among the results of the search. Left to these buttons there are numbers showing on what search result you are now and what is the total number of search result. The search result on which you stopped moving is highlighted.

* Search works by the partial matches of a search query with the data specified in the table;
* Search results are sorted by relevance;
* If table panel has been filtered before the quick search, then search will be performed by the filtered data selection;
* Reset of the search occurs when user removes a search query from the lookup.

## **Info bar**

Info bar can be enabled or hidden via the General tab in General settings.

It looks as the following:

* Tape rolling – when checked, the 'Info bar' moves horizontally along the application's window width;
* Customize – opens the 'Customize info bar' menu:

This menu allows to select a set of elements to be displayed in the 'Info bar'.

The checkbox 'Tape rolling' allows to enable/disable the Info bar's horizontal movement along the application's window width.

The control![](/files/-MguhFghVVjzPPCCO25m) opens a list of elements' groups for particular elements selection. The groups 'Account details', 'Symbols' and 'Clocks' are available here:

* Account details – opens the 'Customize account details' menu:

This menu contains an account lookup for users having more than one account.

The following sub-groups of elements displaying account details are available here: General, Margin, Account activity, Today results, Risk management, Info.

To select element(s) from the sub-group(s), check needed element(s) and press the button 'OK'. Press the button 'Close' to cancel the selection and to quit the 'Customize account details' menu.

* Symbols –

  opens the Customize symbols window. The user can also add the same instrument several times, for example, if the instrument is duplicated three times, the lookup value will look as follows: Instrument lookup = “3 Items”.

In the 'Info bar' near the selected symbol the user can find the Last price (the last trade price), Change (absolute price deviation from a Previous close price), and Change, % (price deviation from a Previous close price as a percentage) checkboxes. All three settings can be active at the same time, in which case the Last price will be displayed in white, the Change price will be displayed in green, and the Change price, % will also be displayed in green, but with a '%' symbol next to the value.

* Clocks – shows a list of time zones:

Check needed clock(s) to be displayed in the 'Info bar'. There is also the Customize item in the list of time zones. This item allows access to the full list of available time zones, in order to add the necessary ones to the Clocks list, just tick the necessary checkboxes in the ‘Use time zone’ column. At the bottom of this window there is a button that allows resetting the displayed time zones to default:

All selected elements via the 'Customize info bar' menu are displayed in the 'Info bar'. They are also arranged in this menu in the form of hierarchical tree. To remove an element from the 'Info bar', select it with highlighting in the 'Customize info bar' hierarchical tree, right-click it and select 'Delete' or click on the button![](/files/-MgF4Cvi7vtn0-kS-9Xx).

To remove more than one element, hold the key 'Ctrl', select as much elements as you need, right-click anywhere on the highlighted area and select 'Delete'.

The following buttons allow to manage the 'Customize info bar' hierarchical tree's view:

The button 'OK' allows to apply the 'Customize info bar' menu's arrangement to the 'Info bar'.

The button 'Cancel' allows to quit this menu without applying the arrangement to the 'Info bar'.

## **Status bar**

The Status bar, located at the bottom of the screen, makes it possible to "stream" information such as news and many others. The Status bar can be customized to show only information that user needs.

The Status bar displays (from left to right):

* Workspace(s) – shows a particular configuration of panels, toolbars, charts and/or table layouts that makes up trading environment.
* Trading notifications – notifications about changes in the terminal and server. A notification appears when a deal ticket comes, then it disappears.
* Event log – shows a log of all events that occurred during work sessions.
* Lock trading – disables making all trading operations. After pressing the button, the notification in the center of the screen and the warning signs appear and it shows that trading is locked.
* Date/Time – the current time or date; or both date and time.

Clicking the date and time section will open the window for selecting the Terminal time zone:

This window contains the time zones available for the user, the first in the list is the user's local time zone, the second is the time zone of the server. The last on the list is the ‘Customize’ item, to get to this point, scroll down the list of time zones. Select the ‘Customize’ item in order to open the ‘Select time zones’ window where the user can redefine the default list of time zones:

Check the required time zones in order to include them in the default list and click ‘OK’. It is also possible to return the list to its default state by clicking the ‘Reset to default’ button.

Please note that after changing the time zone, the time display will immediately change in the following panels:

* Event log – time in the ‘Date’ column for Daily and Range query;
* Symbol info – instrument trading session time;
* Watchlist/Market depth – time in the ‘Last date’ column;
* Chart – time displayed at the bottom of the chart, also, when the time zone is changed, the display of trades on the chart will be automatically redrawn in accordance with the selected time zone;
* Time & Sales – time in the ‘Time’ column;
* Position/Working orders – time in the ‘Date/Time’ column;
* Filled orders/Orders history – time in the ‘Date’ column for Daily and Range query;
* High/Low list – time in the ‘Time’ column. &#x20;


# Panel settings

The menu Settings can be opened through the Context menu, right click anywhere and select Settings. See an example of the settings dialog window below:

**General tab** allows changing view of tables.

**View**

* Grid – allows showing grid between columns and rows (you can select the following options: Vertical, Horizontal, Vertical & horizontal, None);
* Autosize of columns – automatically sizes columns so that their total width would be equal to the width of a panel. If disabled, each column will be sized by maximum length;
* Auto re-sorting – allows auto re-sorting a table after any changes;
* Show totals – allows showing total amount for columns. Be attentive to mark the "Show total" option as checked as well for selected columns in the Columns tab ![](/files/-MgF4Civ_nhdu74uhwam).&#x20;
* Show toolbar – allows showing panel toolbar.

**Colors**

The Colors sub-menu allows configuring the color scheme for tables:

* Text colors - the static cell text color (text color);
* Background colors - the static cell background color.

  **Columns tab** allows changing columns settings.

**Displaying and hiding columns**

The Columns box on the left lists the columns available in the panel. The columns with the blue checkbox are currently visible. To display or hide a column, check or uncheck an appropriate box and click apply.

### **Reordering columns**

To reorder columns, click on a desired column and drag it to the desired location while holding the left mouse button.

### **Configuring each column**

To configure settings for a specific column: select the column type in the columns box. The column settings area on the right displays all available settings for a selected column, arranged into categories.

User can select multiple columns simultaneously and configure common settings for them all at once. To select more than one column, hold the Ctrl key while clicking columns. To select a range, hold the Shift key and click the first and the last column of a desired range.

### **Column**

The Column category lists the following settings:

* Colors - allows changing font color and background color in a column;
* Coloring mode - allows choosing the coloring mode (by difference, by sign or none);
* Increase colors - allows drawing the price values which were increased while trading;
* Decrease colors - allows drawing the price values which were decreased while trading.

### **Total**

Show total - if checked, the total price value is shown.

Calculation method - allows to choose the calculation method of Total value (Net Qty, Average, Count, Absolute sum).

**Coloring rows tab** allows selecting different color settings for rows on base of different conditions.

Click on the button![](/files/-MgF4Cj782wNZBPT9I0L) to add a new Color scheme. Its title can be changed directly from the title cell. Use the button![](/files/-MgF4CjBDNZJRG1byQMs) to activate or deactivate a color scheme. A color scheme can be also removed with the button![](/files/-MgF4CjDXEf2C_fPynrC).

Select one Color scheme and use the button![](/files/-MgF4CjFZUd5IKHBiKk2) to add new conditions. For each condition you must select a column type, type of comparison and value to compare.

Then select colors for marking rows (font and background colors) and choose columns which cells will be marked.

You can see the example of rows marking by conditions below:

## Exporting from table panels

Each table panel in the terminal (Positions, Orders, Time & Sales, etc.) has the function 'Export' in the Context menu:

All information from table panels can be exported to Excel or CSV files.

In the Export window choose a needed file format from the list:

Set path for file saving, choose needed columns for exporting (activate the 'Check all' function in order to select all columns) and click on the button 'Export':

Synchronize – this function is used for Excel format only, when checked, allows to view information in Excel format in real-time mode without saving this file.

This means when an application's panel and an exported file are opened, data in this file changes in accordance with changes on an application's panel.

After closing an exported panel, the application or an Excel file, you will need to export data again for monitoring information stored into an Excel file in real-time mode:

# Alerts

To open the Alerts panel, click on the![](/files/-MgpRSwv057llOTVjxBw) button which is located at the header of the VelocityTrader terminal. In order to create an alert, click on the ![](/files/-MgF4Cqw_Sb19jBHfYrA) button at the bottom of the panel.

A user can see Bid, Ask, Last, Change% and Volume data by the instrument, selected in the symbol lookup of the panel.

* Symbol – the symbol lookup allows to select an instrument by which the alert will be created;
* Notification – allows to select a type of notification to be sent, available values are Email, Push, Pop-up, Sound. Multiselect is available here;
* Alert type – allows to set an alert type. Available options are the following: Ask, Bid, Last, Change%, Volume;
* Condition – allows to set an alert condition. Available values are the following: >,<,>=,<=;
* Value – allows to set a value of Alert type for reaching the condition;
* Importance – allows to define the importance of the alert. The following options are available: High, Medium, Low. After execution of the alert, a user gets a notification with the corresponding color of the indicator which depends on importance of the alert;

* Expiration – date/time picker that allows specifying the period of alert lifetime. The expiration date is set in the corresponding calendar control:

* After execute *\*\**– allows to choose alert behavior after execution. Available options are the following:
  * Stop – after execution alert is not active but stored in the list of alerts;
  * Remove – after execution alert is removed.
* Action – allows to set up the action to be performed after alerts’ execution:
  * Place order + Notify – alert is performed according to the notification type and order placing occurs;
  * Notify – user is notified without placing an order, this value is set by default;
* Order parameters – becomes available only when 'Place order + Notify' option is selected in the 'Action' control. Allows to open standard Order entry panel to configure the required parameters of the order to be placed after alert triggering;
* Alert message – allows to type the text of the alert message. The text in the Message box is generated automatically but a user can customize the text of the notification;
* Create button – allows to create an alert. The button is colored according to importance of the alert.

## **Alerts management**

A user can see created alerts and work with them – both with executed and not executed ones.

There are the following columns in the table of the Alerts panel:

* Instrument – instrument name by which the alert was created;
* Condition – the alert is executed by reaching the condition;
* Controls – the set of controls for each alert:
  * Play – click on the button to re-start the alert. The button is visible for executed alerts;
  * Stop – click on the button to stop the execution of the alert. The button is visible for not executed alerts;
  * Edit – allows to open editing screen;
  * Remove – allows to remove alert. By clicking on the button, the confirmation window will appear.

## **Alerts on chart**

The chart displays all active alerts for the instrument selected in the symbol lookup. If the alert is executed, it will not be shown on the chart, but its presence in the panel is controlled by the ‘After execute’ parameter. The chart displays all alerts for an instrument, for Ask, Bid, Last types.

To create a new alert on the chart, click on the![](/files/-MgF4Cr9xzi3KJYX2dj1) button which appears near the price scale at the chart while hovering the certain price level:

All active alerts created by the same instrument are visible on the chart. After execution the alert is removed from the chart. The buttons which allow to edit![](/files/-MgF4CrDc9cuWjZpmlUQ)and remove![](/files/-MgF4CrEoZnfCkPhv-tv)an alert become visible while hovering the alert’s icon. The color of the alert’s icon depends on importance of the alert.

By clicking on the Edit control, the Editing screen is opened. Editing of the alert from the chart is also possible by using the Drag\&Drop function. While using this function, the alert is modified without additional confirmations.


# Symbol & Account lookups

## Symbol lookup

The Symbol lookup window shows all symbols which are available through the broker. The Symbol lookup window can be opened in each panel which requires symbol selection through the context menu or by clicking on the button![](/files/-MgF4CKimxBIygEamkFf). Hover the symbol name![](/files/-MgF4CKljZvRdJU66xAy)in the toolbar of the chosen panel to see this button![](/files/-MgF4CKowP8qChKWN4AR).

Note: click on the symbol icon in the lookup of the chosen panel to open the Symbol info panel.

The Symbol lookup window contains two drop-down lists with exchanges and symbols grouped according to their types, which are used on the server and available to the user. All symbols are shown in the default sequence. To filter the Symbol lookup by an exchange or symbol name, you need to select the required exchange and/or symbol type from the lists.

After selecting the needed value and filtering the items all symbol tabs that don't match the filter will be hidden from the list.

Select 'All' in the drop-down exchange and types lists in order to cancel the filtering and view all symbol tabs.

If symbol name in the symbol lookup window is entered from the keyboard, then all symbol groups containing symbols with matches in their names are expanded.

For easy management of the lookup, it has three buttons and link located in the bottom of the tab:

* Collapse all - allows to collapse all opened tabs to the form that shows only exchanges in the lookup tree.
* Expand exchanges - allows showing exchanges and symbol types in the lookup tree.
* Expand types - allows showing exchanges, symbol types and symbols in the lookup tree.
* 'Show additional info' icon - shows short information about the selected symbol.

All symbols are grouped according to categories: Equities, Forex, Futures, etc. The Symbol lookup window displays information as follows: exchange, symbol type and icon, symbol group, symbol, contract or strike price (for Futures and Options).

Note: you can search for symbols and filter them by their localized names if they were assigned localized names in one or several supported languages on the server. To do that you need to select the corresponding language for the application user interface and enter the localized name of the sought instrument/instruments in this language. With that, for all the symbols in the lookup, their localized names will be displayed when the corresponding interface language is selected. The same principle applies to the display of instrument names in Chart, Market depth, Order entry, Matrix, Super DOM (depth of market), Scalper, Symbol info, Aggressor balance, Saved orders panels as well as Positions, Working orders, Orders history, Filled orders, Positions balance panels.

If there is no localized name for an instrument for the current interface language, the server instrument name is displayed.

## Account lookup

The Account lookup displays all accounts available for the user. The Account lookup panel can be opened in each panel which requires account selection by clicking on the button![](/files/-MgF4CL3gdzHNDCJnroW) next to the account scroll down menu.

# Chart overview

Chart is the most useful panel for an active trader. Charts enable users to view quotes history, analyze market patterns, and make decisions being well-informed.

This section describes the Chart panel and its functions.

* Symbol lookup – the field for selection of the symbol displayed on the chart.
* Account lookup – the field for selection of the account for visual trading.
* Overlays – the button for adding one chart of the symbol on the other in order to observe symbol correlations.
* Aggregation – the menu for selection of the desired aggregation type.
* Chart style – allows choosing style of the symbol price movements: candle, line, bar, dots, etc.
* Time period – the button for selection of the desired time period, etc.
* Drawing tools – the menu with drawing tools.
* Analysis tools – the menu with tools for analysis: price and bar statistics, volume profile and bars.
* Indicators – the menu with indicators.
* Object manager – shows all indicators and drawings that were applied to the chart with their settings and short information.
* Chart trading – opens Chart built-in Order entry panel, which enables visual trading.
* Mouse trading – allows activating chart trading, this option is available with pressing and holding the key Ctrl as well.
* Info window – displays information about current cursor position.
* Scroll – a tool for scrolling the chart history.

To show/hide elements on Chart, right click anywhere within the chart, select View, and check/uncheck the desired items in this section.

## Navigation

Users can zoom in and out on charts, scroll it horizontally and vertically, change the bar width, and manually refresh the chart.

### **Time zooming**

To zoom in and out on the Chart panel users can use the scroll button on their mouse or simply drag the chart border in the Timeline panel using the scroll:

The scroll bar functions are similar to the scroll bar in a web browser - click, hold, and drag. Use scroll to move the data on the chart, buttons "+" and "-" to zoom in or out, and the arrow-icon to go to the last quote bar. Also, the chart can be zoomed in using the "Shift + mouse wheel" hotkey combination. Please note that in this case, not the usual zooming combination with a "Ctrl" button is used, since this button is already used for visual trading. When using this hotkey combination, zooming occurs to the mouse cursor point, that is, the chart remains centered. This feature works when the mouse cursor is over the chart.

The chart has a possibility of moving "bar by bar" using a hotkey. A hotkey can be set in General settings -> Hotkeys -> Chart; by default hotkey F12 is specified. After pressing the hotkey, the chart will be moved on one bar to the left. Moving is performed prior to the default offset to the scale.

### **Price scale zooming**

User can zoom in or out on the chart by price scale (vertically). Click on the price axis, drag it up and down to scale the price axis.

### **Scrolling the chart**

To scroll the chart horizontally, just drag the active section in the Timeline, or click inside the chart and drag it there.

For vertical scrolling the automatic scaling feature must be turned off. To do this, click the Manual zoom button on the chart or the appropriate function in the settings. This will enable vertical scrolling by clicking inside the chart and dragging it up and down.

Three types of the price scale are available: Absolute, Relative and Logarithmic.

* Absolute - displays the price scale in the absolute units.
* Relative - displays the price scale in the relative units, where as a starting point can be used: first point of the screen visibility, point of the day opening, and starting point of the history.
* Logarithmic - logarithmic scale representation, where as a starting point can be used the same points as for relative scale.

If a user prefers Auto scale mode, he may choose fit indicators, fit orders/positions, or fit day High/Low options to be sure that all desired values are visible on a Chart that automatically scales.

### **Refreshing the chart**

Charts refresh automatically. If, however, a user needs to refresh the chart manually, right click inside of the Chart and select Refresh. This action will reload the chart data and redraw chart.

### **Right information button**

Working with right mouse button, user can get the following information:

* Bars – the number of bars between two selected points.
* ∆Time – time past between two selected points.
* ∆Price – price difference between two selected points at each end of the line.
* Ticks – price difference shown in ticks between two selected points.
* Profit – shows how much a trader could earn if the price has gone up/down from point 1 to point 2.

In order to get this information, click right mouse button, hold it and lead the mouse across the screen to the needed point.

Note that the color of the text and background displayed in the info window can be changed via the corresponding color pickers in the chart settings, 'Info window' section.

### **Additional options**

Right clicking on the timeline shows the panel with additional options:

* Show time periods separators - this option displays the vertical lines on the chart to separate different days, weeks, months and years.
* Show holes in the history - this option displays bars with no price that appears when the market is closed.
* Show extended sessions - this option displays all quotes received on pre-session, main session and post-session. The timeframes for sessions should be set in the Backoffice for each symbol.

In addition, user can activate "Scrollbar chart preview" option in the chart settings in order to find quickly the necessary place of the chart, such as trend or flat sections.

Chart settings can be opened through the context menu of the Chart panel:

## **Data style**

* Style - describes price movements of a symbol. Another way to choose the chart style through context menu: Style -> \[desired style].
* Data type - the way to accept data. Available types are: Bid, Ask, Last and Default by symbol. Based on server settings Last or Bid/Ask type can be disabled.
* Color settings for all styles.

* Back color - allows setting up the color of the chart background.
* Watermark color - allows setting up the color of the watermark.
* Watermark mode - allows displaying the Symbol/Description watermark (or both) as well as hiding it.
* Crosshair - allows activating and setting up cursor lines, as well as font color of price/time labels.
* Grid - allows activating and setting up grid on the chart.
* Time to next bar - allows activating and setting up color of figures that show remaining time to the next bar.
* Additional - allows activating Drawing toolbar, Scrollbar chart preview, Chart toolbar.

## **Time scale**

* Appearance - allows setting up style of time scale.
* Holes in the history - allows seeing free space on the chart if there is no history at that moment.
* Show extended session - allows seeing bars from extended sessions on chart. The peculiarities of this setting also depend on the state of the "Use session periods for Intraday chart" setting that can be found in the BackOffice. If “Use session periods for Intraday chart = true”, then the aggregation will start from the first session of the day. At the same time, sessions that belong to the Before market/After market periods will be excluded from the Extended session list.
* Highlight extended sessions - all extended sessions that were set on the server for the current symbol will be displayed in selected color.
* Highlight date - allows displaying separator lines for: Days, Weeks, Months, and Years.

* Scale type - allows selecting type of the scale price and start price for the chart: Absolute, Relative and Logarithmic.
  * Absolute - displays the price scale in the absolute units.
  * Relative - displays the price scale in the relative units, where as a starting point can be used: first point of the screen visibility, point of the day opening, and starting point of the history.
  * Logarithmic - logarithmic scale representation, where as a starting point can be used the same points as for relative scale.
* Start price - you can choose from the following options: Begin of the data, Begin of the day, Begin of the screen.
* Zoom - choose between Manual and Automatic Price scale. In manual mode, changes can be made to the vertical price scale. Automatic mode is based on visible prices but it also can fit Indicators, Orders, Drawings and the day's High/Low prices.
* Scale markings - allows setting up custom grid on price scale, minimal distance assigning in ticks and custom spacing between grid's lines.
* Appearance - allows setting up style of price scale.
* Highlight prices:
  * Price indicator - allows setting up active price marking as:
    * Scale marker
    * Scale marker with line
    * None
  * Ask price color
  * Last price color
  * Bid price color
* Spread type - allows setting up the way of spread displaying:
  * None
  * Area
  * Line (Bid and Ask)
  * Line with price (Bid and Ask)
  * Price

If spread type is None - single price indicator is shown, depending on chart data type (Bid, Last, Ask etc.)

* Spread area color - color of spread area (if it's chosen as spread type).
* Previous close line - type and color. Available only for Time, Tick, Price range and Heikin Ashi aggregation types.
* Day High/Low lines - type and color. Available only for Time, Tick, Price range and Heikin Ashi aggregation types.
* Settlement price - allows displaying settlement price on the chart and choosing the style of its line.
* Previous settlement price - allows displaying previous settlement price on the chart and choosing the style of its line.

## Alerts

* Notification – *\*\**&#x61;llows selecting the type of notification sent after alert triggering, the following types are available: Email, Push, Pop-up, Sound;

This section allows setting up contents of the Info window and the style of its displaying. You can select from the following Info Window Modes: Separate Window, Attached To Cursor, Hidden. Please note that this setting allows changing the background and text colors for various info windows, for example, those that are expanded when using the 'Right information button' on the chart.

# Chart templates

A template is a set of settings, drawings, indicators, overlays, volume analysis tools, zoom level, chart settings and chart type saved in 1 file for further usage. One template can be applied in different workspaces.

Click on the![](/files/-MgF4DZiQ2T9Nu0PVDjZ)button located in the toolbar of a chart to create a template.

Then click on the «+» button and type a template name in the opened window.

Created templates appear at the menu of templates. In order to apply a template, check the certain name in the list of created templates.

# Aggregation types overview

To choose the type of aggregation for a chart, click on the Time frame button located near the Style button on the Charts toolbar. The following options are available:

* Time – 1 Minute, 5 Minutes, 15 Minutes, Hourly, Daily, Monthly, Yearly and Custom.
* Tick – sets the number of ticks for each bar (33, 55, 99, 133...).
* Price range – focuses on the price only, the bars in this chart close when a range completes.
* P\&F (Points and Figures) – only price changes are recorded. If no price change occurs then the chart is left untouched.
* Renko – price charts with rising and falling diagonal lines of boxes that are either filled or hollow.
* Kagi – a series of vertical lines connected by short horizontal lines. The thickness and direction of the lines is based on the price of the underlying stock or asset.
* Line break - displays a series of vertical boxes that are based on the closing prices.
* Heikin Ashi – chart with this aggregation is very similar to the simple Time chart built in the style of Japanese candles. The only difference is a modified calculation algorithm of the main candle price parameters – Open, High, Low and Close.
* Cluster – displays value of the specific parameter (Volume, Delta, Trades, etc.) by each price level. One cluster corresponds to one bar.
* Profile – displays each bar in the form of “market profile”. The base for building the profile is typical time bars or tick bars which instead of general candle are displayed as a column of letters of the Latin alphabet.

User can simply choose predefined aggregation type from the set of saved states, click on it and it'll be immediately applied to the chart or set a new one by clicking on the "Edit" link where user can interactively customize and streamline different types of the chart representation. In the timeframe editor users can adjust each value in each group by adding new items or editing the existing ones. In order to add a new aggregation type, click on "+" button and specify all the necessary parameters for this type:

To edit the existing type, simply click on its button, change the parameters and click "Apply". User can delete aggregation items from the tab by clicking on a chosen item and clicking a button![](/files/-MgF4D_XP9AN5lQmYo_q).

Clicking on the Custom aggregation button allows users to choose period, time and other parameters for a custom aggregation type which is now applied to the chart:

Additionally, users can choose the quantity of bars that they want to see on chart. The period of data displaying can be: 1 day, 5 days, 10 days, 20 days, etc.

Aggregation types "Time - 1H" and "Time - 4H" extend period of data displaying (available history depth): 6 months, 1 Year; aggregation type "Time - 1D" - 2 Years, 3 Years, 5 Years, 10 Years, 15 Years, 20 Years.


# Cluster chart

Cluster chart allows trader to identify places with large volumes, assess visually the speed of their occurrence and the relative value. Cluster chart also allows making trading decisions based on absolute cluster values.

Cluster chart fits for analysis on any timeframe for any style of the trading: scalping, intraday trading, medium or long-term position trading.

## **Cluster timeframe parameters**

* Build from – allows selecting the time period for plotting the chart, available periods here are: tick, second, minute, hour, day, week, month, year.
* Value – allows setting value for selected period from “Build from” field.
* Data type – this setting allows choosing from what value we can build the cluster, the following options are available:
  * Volume – each cluster row will contain volume traded by each price level;
  * Buy volume – buy volume by each price level;
  * Sell volume – sell volume by each price level;
  * Delta – each cluster row will contain delta (Buy volume – Sell volume) by specified price level;
  * Volume, % – each cluster row will contain volume value expressed as a percentage relative to the maximum value of the volume in the cluster;
  * Delta, % – each cluster row will contain delta value expressed as a percentage relative to the maximum value of the delta in the cluster;
  * Max tick volume – each cluster row will show maximum tick volume by each price level. For example, ticks with volumes 1,2,10,3 come on the price X; if Max tick volume is chosen, then value = 10 should be displayed on the price X in the cluster, i.e. volume is not accumulated, but max tick value is taken.
  * Delta/Volume,% – each cluster row will show the percentage of the delta in the volume;
  * Trades – each cluster row contains the number of trades which took place on a certain price level;
  * Custom pair – in the case, when this setting is chosen, each cluster row will contain two parameters simultaneously, divided by sign “x”. For example, Volume & Trades. Fields “Parameter #1” and “Parameter #2” are only available for Custom pair mode. In this mode, user can specify random pair of parameters by choosing the corresponding data in the combo boxes.
  * Volume imbalance – allows to automatically determine imbalance between Buy volume which is at one price level, and Sell volume which is at a higher price level.&#x20;

## Cluster chart settings

* Value filter – if checked, it is necessary to plot only those clusters, total data (volume, delta, etc.) of which meets the condition specified in the fields ‘Operator’ and ‘Filter value’.
* Highlight maximum – allows allocating the maximum value in the cluster. If several values are maximal at the same time, they will be both highlighted.
* Cluster color – allows allocating upward and downward clusters.
* Doji

* Font color – allows to set up the font color of the numbers which are displayed inside of the clusters.
* Color scheme – allows setting the coloring style of background inside the cluster. Four color schemes are available:
  * None – cluster filling is absent;
  * By volume – color scheme oriented on the volume value, i.e. each cluster row has one-color filling, but different brightness depending on the volume value by each row. Row with the maximal volume value will have the most saturated filling, and vice versa – row with the minimal volume value will have the dimmest filling.
  * By trades – this color scheme is the same as ‘By volume’ scheme with the only difference that the number of trades by each price level serves as a brightness (saturation) indicator of the filling.
  * By delta – is identical to the previous methods of filling, with the only difference being that two colors for the positive and negative delta are used for the filling.
* Price step, Custom step – allows setting the price step by Y-axis.
* Strong Sell volume, Strong Buy volume, Neutral volume – color pickers (color schemes are oriented on the volume type).

Note: relative and algorithmic price scales are not applied to this aggregation type.


# Profile chart

Profile allows aggregating and plotting charts, where each bar is represented in the form of "market profile".

Market profile allows to organize data in the way that trader can understand who controls the market, what is meant by fair value, and what lies behind the price movement.

**Algorithm of profile plotting**

When using market profile, the following method for plotting is applied: general time bars or tick bars which are displayed in the form of the column with Latin letters (A, B..a, b..) is the base for profile plotting. Bar open price is marked by special symbol – @, and bar close price – by #.

## **Profile timeframe parameters**

Profile aggregation can be set via using the timeframe selector:

* Profile based on – allows to select base aggregation for chart plotting, available periods are: tick, second, minute, hour, day, week, month, year;
* Value – allows setting a value for selected period from "Profile based on" field;
* Build from – allows time period selection for chart plotting, available periods are: tick, second, minute, hour, day, week, month, year;
* Value – allows setting a value for selected period from "Build from" field.

**Important note:** "Build from" value must be less than "Profile based on" value. For example: Profile based on = 1H, Build from value = 5m.

## **Profile settings**

* Data type – the way to accept data. Available types are: Default by symbol, Bid, Ask, Last. Based on server settings Last or Bid/Ask type can be disabled;
* Font – allows selecting style of profile displaying;
* Point of control (POC) – defines the method of POC lines plotting.

Point of control (POC) – row with the largest number of letters – in fact, indicates the most common price. If there are several equal rows, the label is placed near that row which is closer to the center of the profile. The following options are possible:

1. None.
2. Line – line going through the POC level to the next profile.

1. Marker – POC line is allocated by the marker (special symbol, for example >).

* Point of control style – allows to specify style of the selected POC type, available for "Point of control=Line" only;
* Value area – specifies the type of VA plotting.

Value area (VA) – characterizes the most common prices in the profile. Value area can be displayed in the form of vertical column to the left (right) of the profile, or in the form of the column with the respective horizontal top and bottom levels. Horizontal levels are held to the width of the current and the following historical profile. The following options are possible:

1. None;
2. Vertical – VA is plotted in the form of vertical line by the left border of the profile.
3. Horizontal – VA is plotted in the form of vertical line, as well as with two horizontal lines going to the next profile.
4. To next profile – VA is plotted in the form of vertical line, as well as with two horizontal lines that are plotted taking into account the next profile.
5. Value, % – allows setting what part of the total number of letters (TPO) it is necessary to display;

TPO (Time-Price opportunities) – characterizes the total number of letters in the profile.

* Vertical line style – allows selecting style of vertical line plotting;
* Show singles, Singles style – controls the visibility and style of "single lines" plotting;

Singles – horizontal lines are displayed on the profile in those places, where there is a single letter in the middle of the profile.

* Color scheme, Color – allows selecting type and style of plotting the whole profile. The following coloring types are available:
  * Single color – all letters from the profile will be colored in single color;
  * Delta profile – difference between purchases and sales is calculated by the whole profile. All letters are colored in the appropriate color;
  * Delta price – coloring goes by rows, if price difference between purchases and sales is positive, then the whole row is colored in green, and if negative – in red color. The intensity of the color depends on the value of difference, the greater the difference, the brighter the color;
  * Delta bars – if difference between purchases and sales is positive in the current bar, then these letters are colored in green, if negative – in red color. The intensity of the color depends on the value of difference, the greater the difference, the brighter the color;
  * Up/Down profile – this coloring is similar to the bars coloring, selected colors correspond to the growing and falling bars for the entire profile;
  * Up/Down bars – this coloring is similar to the bars coloring, selected colors correspond to the growing and falling bars, this color scheme is applied to each bar included into profile;
  * Volume price – coloring goes by rows. All rows are colored in one color. The intensity of the color depends on trades quantity by the price;
  * Volume bars – all bars are colored in one color. The intensity of the color depends on trades quantity in the bar.

Note: relative and algorithmic price scales are not applied to this aggregation type.


# Drawings

A set of graphical tools is available to assist in price movements analysis. All of these tools are accessible via the Drawing toolbar or through the Context menu of the Chart.

The following list of graphical tools is currently available:

Trend tools:

* Horizontal line – places a horizontal line on the chart that can be extended to the left in order to monitor starting points of levels plotting on the chart history (option 'Extend left' in the settings);
* Vertical line – places a vertical line on the chart;
* Line – places a line on the chart that may be extended beyond both sides with an option to show the angle of the trend (set in the settings);
* Price channel – places levels on a trend line;
* Regression channel – consists of two parallel lines plotted equidistantly above and below a Regression line. User can specify begin and end points of regression line: these will be snapped to the closest bars. The slope of the lines will be automatically adjusted based on linear regression;
* Andrew's pitchfork – places Andrew's channel Polygon;

Geometry tools:

* Triangle – places a simple triangle on the chart;
* Rectangle – places a simple rectangle on the chart;
* Circle – places a circle on the chart;
* Ellipse – places an ellipse on the chart;
* Polygon – places a polygon figure on the chart;

Fibonacci tools:

* Fibonacci retracement – retracement and price goals;
* Fibonacci expansion – estimating support and resistance levels;
* Fibonacci arc – places arcs with Fibonacci levels;
* Fibonacci ellipses – identifies underlying structure of price movements;
* Fibonacci spiral – places a spiral with Fibonacci levels as steps;
* Fibonacci fans – places Fibonacci angles;
* Fibonacci phi-Channel – places Fibonacci levels on a trend line;
* Fibonacci time goal analysis – places time goals;
* Fibonacci time zone – measures Fibonacci periods.

Gann tools:

* Gann line – places a line drawn at the angle of 45 degrees;
* Gann fan – places a series of diagonal lines;
* Gann grid – places trends at the angle of 45 degrees.

Patterns:

* Gartley butterfly – this drawing allows finding all kinds of Gartley patterns on the price chart;
* Top Bottom pattern – this drawing marks levels of the support/resistance on a price chart which leads to a reversal of an asset/process movement;
* PPZ (Price pivot zone) – this drawing marks levels of the support/resistance on the price chart which lead to the strong price reaction for a short period of time.
* ABC pattern – when using this drawing, schematic structure of the waves A, B, C will be built on the chart. ABC pattern is an element of the wave theory by which the wave C is 161° from the value of wave A.

Secondary tools:

* Arrow – adds an arrow on the chart;
* Ruler – measures distance between points;
* Comments – places a small text box for remarks. Double click it to edit a text;
* Price label – places a certain price label on a chart.

Properties:

* Selection – selects more than one drawing on the chart;
* Snap to candle – if checked, while price movement, drawing tools automatically sticks to the contour of the candle, centerline of the candle and its wicks;
* Stay in drawing mode – if this button is disabled, after making a drawing, the cursor will be reset to the arrow view, if enabled – will continue to stay in drawing mode of a selected tool.

Remove all – removes all drawings from the chart.

In order to place a tool:

* Open Context menu and select Drawing tools -> \[desired tool] or click on an appropriate icon in the Drawing toolbar;
* If a tool requires points to be specified on the chart (e.g. a line requires two points while Andrew's pitchfork requires three), you can choose these points using 'Snap to candle' option. This defines which price the lines will follow. In Freehand mode, there is no reference to the price.

Note: freehand is the default setting when selecting a tool from the Drawing toolbar and 'Snap to candle' is disabled.

## Context menu

Each drawing tool has its Context menu. Right click on the initial point of the drawing tool in order to evoke its context menu.

* Settings – allows to specify tool’s appearance and settings;
* Remove selected – deletes selected tool;
* Lock location – locks selected drawing.

Drawing's Settings menu contains different sections depending on drawing's type. In general, the following sections are available in the Settings menu: Appearance, Points, Visibility.

However, different sections' combinations are available for different drawings.

For such drawings, as Line, Vertical line, Horizontal line, Triangle, Rectangle, Polygon, Circle, Ellipse, Andrew's pitchfork, Price channel, Fibonacci spiral, Fibonacci time zone, Gann line, Gann fan, Gann grid, Regression Channel, ABC pattern, PPZ (Price pivot zone), Top Bottom Pattern, Gartley butterfly, Ruler, Mark, and Comments, the following sections are available:

* Appearance – allows to set up drawing's view parameters;
* Points – allows to indicate coordinates for every point which must be specified for a drawing. Coordinates indication is realized via values of the fields Time and Price:

* Visibility – allows to set up a drawing's visibility on the chart depending on its aggregation type (read more about aggregation types here: [Aggregation types](https://help.za.velocitytrade.com/desktop-application-for-windows/windows/analysis-tools/chart/aggregation-types-overview)). Every drawing is visible for all aggregation types by default. With defined Visibility settings a drawing becomes visible for selected aggregation types with specified parameters only:

For such drawings, as Fibonacci retracement, Fibonacci expansion, Fibonacci arc, Fibonacci ellipses, Fibonacci fans, Fibonacci phi-channel, Fibonacci time goal analysis, the following sections are available:

2. Points;
   1. Visibility;
   2. Fibonacci – allows to add, delete Fibonacci levels, edit their values and to set up the font, font color and width of a line of a drawing which will be colored after reaching the value which you set:

# Level ll data on chart

This functionality allows to actualize the possibility to represent the structure of changing of Level II on 1 Tick Chart.

The functionality becomes available after activation of checkbox 'Order Flow surface'.

The checkbox synchronizes with the same checkbox in the chart settings.

The functionality is available only for aggregation 1 Tick.

In checkbox 'Order Flow surface', the default state is false, the checkbox is available only if 'Value' = 1, otherwise the checkbox is disabled.

Other place for activating functionality is the menu Setting -> Data style (only for 1 tick aggregation).

If 'Order Flow surface' is active, the rest of settings becomes available.

* Aggregation mode – combobox allows to indicate a method that determines how the maximum value of volume is calculated:

Auto - in this mode, the system independently calculates the maximum volume from the incoming level 2 data. This value is used while drawing a histogram. Auto mode is set by default.

Custom - in this mode, the user indicates the maximum value by himself.

* Value – numeric for custom maximal value. Numerics becomes available only when Aggregation mode = custom.
* Number of levels – numeric, by default = 5, min = 1, max = without limit, Step = 1. This numeric allows to indicate how many levels of Level II have to be shown on a chart.
* Font, Font color – allows to choose font style.
* Show volume markers – the default state of the checkbox is false, when this checkbox is activated, controls 'Font', 'Color', 'Area' are activated. This setting enables to display the volume markers on the Y axis. These markers show the current volume value at each level of Market depth.&#x20;

The field is depicted in proportion to the maximum value.

Sell limit orders are depicted from the initial level down.

Buy limit orders are depicted from the initial level up.

**Histogram building**

Histogram building occurs in real time from the moment when the checkbox 'Order Flow surface' is activated. The redrawing of the histogram occurs after the emergence of a new quote, i.e. at the moment of its drawing. Building of a histogram does not depend on the Data type of a chart. Zooming of a chart does not change the functionality. The histogram which is built should have a lower Z-Index than the chart itself.

In the settings there is a combobox 'Coloring scheme' with two states - 'Histogram' and 'Gradient'.

* Limit orders - сolorpickers, default values for Buy limit - blue, for Sell limit - red.
* New limit order - the coloring occurs when the volume changes one time at this level, for example, if at the level of 2000 there is a volume of 200 lots and if at some time at this level the volume changes to 202 - at this moment coloring New limit order should occur. Default values for New buy limit - another shade of blue, New sell limit - another shade of red.

# Object manager

Object manager tool is used to manage drawings, indicators and overlays more effectively and quickly. This panel consists of three tabs which have similar options: Indicators, Drawings and Overlays. In order to open Object manager panel, click on the appropriate button![](/files/-MgF4Fd5DUGvtSOoHbsj) at the chart toolbar or select "Object manager" option from the context menu.

# Chart overlay

A user can add any other symbol's chart to the current chart. To provide this, click on the![](/files/-MgF4SpiGaofOGWYwudo)button located near the Symbol lookup. Select a new symbol to integrate into the chart.

* Symbol - allows selecting symbol for overlay.
* Data type - type of data which will be displayed: Bid, Ask, Last.
* Price scaling - user can select separate or main scale for displaying.
* Style - style of the chart displaying: candle, line, bar, etc.
* Body, Border, Wick, Doji - allows setting the color according to the chart style.
* Show price marker - allows displaying price marker for overlaid symbol.


# Context menu

The Context menu provides another method for changing Chart options. To open the menu, right-click anywhere within the chart.

The following options are available in the Context menu:

* Symbols lookup – allows selecting necessary symbol from the list of available.
* Object manager – evokes object manager window which simplifies work with settings and displaying of the indicators, drawings and overlays.
* Style – sets the style of the chart bars. A user is able to choose among the following types: Line, Candle, Bar, Dots, Histogram, Area, Dotted line.
* Info Window – allows to set Info Window as Separate Window, Attached to cursor, or to make it be Hidden.
* Aggregation types – evoke window with custom aggregation type settings in order to choose the needed type or edit some settings.
* Data type – sets the type of source for quotes:
* Default by symbol – chart will be built by symbol values by default.
* Bid – chart will be built by Bid values.
* Last – if this type is selected, chart is based on the prices of trades.
* Ask – chart will be built by Ask values.
* Overlays – allow adding one chart of the symbol on the other in order to observe symbol correlation, or removing all overlays.
* Indicators – evoke the Scripts lookup for easy indicator selection and allow to remove the chosen indicators.
* Drawing tools – allow to select the drawing tool or remove the existing ones. The following options are available: Selection, Snap to candle, Stay in drawing mode; Trend, Geometry, Fibonacci, Gann, Patterns, Secondary tools; Remove all.
* Analysis tools – allow to select the tool for analysis or remove the existing ones. The following options are available: Price statistics, Volume profile, Bar statistics, Volume bars, T\&S, VWAP.
* View – offers visible elements on the chart. Here a user can choose:
* Previous close – the last closed line from previous session.
* Day high/low – allows displaying lines of day high and low prices on the chart.
* Settlement price – allows displaying settlement price on the chart and choosing the style of its line.
* Previous settlement price – allows displaying previous settlement price on the chart and choosing the style of its line.
* Time to next bar – allows displaying time to next bar on the chart.
* Crosshair – shows/hides the crosshair on the chart.
* Grid time/price – horizontal and vertical lines that help to compare prices and time on the axis with bars and lines on the chart.
* Drawing toolbar – shows/hides the drawing toolbar.
* Chart Order entry – shows/hides Chart Order entry section on the chart.
* Refresh – reloads the chart data and redraws the panel. Note: the Chart panel refreshes automatically.
* Settings – opens the Settings panel. The settings panel allows users to adjust view, scale, style and other parameters of the chart.


# Volume analysis


# Price statistics

This functionality allows aggregating volumes and derived values by each price level for a specified period of time. Price statistics is a table that appears on the left or right side of the chart depending on the selected position in the settings. Price table can be opened from the Analysis tools menu by clicking on the button![](/files/-MgF4CaLZpqty1zh4G9X) or through Context menu -> Analysis tools -> Price statistics.

**Note: to work correctly with the tools of analysis, except Volume bars, it is obligatory to have trade and tick history.**

By default statistics table contains four columns (Price, Trades, Volume and Delta), but it can be extended with additional parameters. The following parameters are available in the price statistics table:

* Price – all price levels for a specified period of time.
* Trades – the number of trades by each price level for a specified period of time.
* Volume – total volume by each price level for a specified period of time.
* Buy volume – total buy volume by each price level for a specified period of time.
* Sell volume – total sell volume by each price level for a specified period of time.
* Delta – shows difference between buy volume and sell volume for a specified period of time.

Delta = Buy volume – Sell volume

* Buy volume, % – total buy volume for a specified period of time expressed as a percentage.
* Sell volume, % – total sell volume for a specified period of time expressed as a percentage.
* Delta, % – Delta index expressed as a percentage. Delta, % = Buy volume, % – Sell volume, %
* Average size – shows average volume of one trade. Average size = Volume/Trades
* Custom total volume trades – this mode summarizes all trades which traded with volume greater than Amount (set in settings) and shows percentage of such trades in the total volume.

Custom total volume trades, % = Count (Total volume > Amount)/ Total trades \* 100%

Amount = Custom total amount (set in settings)

* Custom buy volume trades – this mode summarizes all buy trades which traded with volume greater than Amount (set in settings) and shows percentage of such trades in the total buy volume.

Custom buy volume trades, % = Count (Buy volume > Amount)/ Buy trades \* 100%

Amount = Custom buy amount (set in settings)

* Custom sell volume trades – this mode summarizes all sell trades which traded with volume greater than Amount (set in settings) and shows percentage of such trades in the total sell volume.

Custom sell volume trades, % = Count (Sell volume > Amount)/ Sell trades \* 100%

Amount = Custom sell amount (set in settings)

* Reset defaults –​ allows to reset settings to defaults.

## **Settings**

* Visible – controls visibility of the price statistics on the chart.
* Calculating style – allows choosing method of the data range setting. Two modes are available here:
  * From period – if chosen, user specifies date range using options From date..To date (Custom) or chooses one of the predefined options.
  * Price range – if chosen, user specifies date range in the visual mode using two vertical lines.
* Keep range – if checked, the position of renderer (two vertical lines used to specify the range) in the 'Price range' mode will be saved relative to the axis X when switching the timeframe or changing the trading symbol. This setting is enabled only if 'Price range' mode is selected.
* Calculating period – is active, when 'From period' is chosen in the Calculating style field. Available options: custom, today, yesterday, current week, last week, current month and last month.
* Position – specifies position of the price statistics table relatively to the chart area (Left or Right).
* Price step – allows setting minimal distance between price levels. Two options are available:
  * Minimum tick – distance between price levels is equal to minimal tick.
  * Custom – allows specifying random distance between price levels. Custom >=Minimum tick
* Custom total/buy/sell amount – allows setting amount that is necessary for calculation of the Custom total/buy/sell volume trades parameters (described above).
* Highlight price levels – if active, all chosen price levels in the statistics table (use double click to select the level) will be highlighted on the chart in the form of horizontal line with price.

# Volume profile

This functionality allows to aggregate volume or derived calculations for a specified period of time in form of histogram on the chart. Volume profile can be opened from the Analysis tools menu by clicking on the button![](/files/-MgF4Ajiy9cachtpwxGo) or through Context menu -> Analysis tools -> Volume profile.

You can select a timeperiod on the chart for plotting a Volume profile with two vertical line-indicators, which are labeled as "Volume profile".

**Note: to work correctly with the tools of analysis, except Volume bars, it is obligatory to have trade and tick history.**

Volume profile can be set up in the following way:

* Visible – controls visibility of the volume profile on the chart, when checked, the volume profile is visible on the chart;
* Properties for – this option allows selecting the section of properties to set up, available values (types of the renderer displaying) are: Right histogram, Left histogram, Step calculations.

Left histogram and Right histogram are exactly the same groups of settings with the only difference that volume histograms will be displayed on different axes. This option allows analyzing several data ranges at once, or analyzing data with different Result types of the same range. Right histogram type is selected by default, two other ones are not visible.

Step calculations – this group of settings allows plotting volume histogram with a predetermined step (1 minute, hour, day, week). Value by default: calculation period = Day, value = 1;

* Show on chart – when checked, a selected renderer's type is displayed on the chart. All three renderer types can be displayed at once;
* Value filter – when checked, such elements as Operator and Filter value appear. They allow to set up a constraint for renderers' displaying:
  * Operator – allows to select one of the comparison characters: =, >, >=, <, <=;
  * Filter value – allows to specify value to compare renderers' values with. Renderers' values, which don't correspond to a given condition, will not be displayed on the chart.

E.g., selecting " >=" and specifying the value 30 will result into displaying renderers with the activated option Shown on chart (Right histogram, Left histogram, Step calculations) having values like 30, 31 \[...] 45 etc.

* Width, % – allows to set up the volumes displaying area's size. For example: Width, % = 20 means that 20 % from the whole chart area will be occupied by Volume profile; &#x20;
* Result type – allows selecting what type volumes will be built by. Available values are:
  * Total volume – total volume by each price level that fell into the range of building the indicator;
  * Buy volume – shows only buy traded volumes by each price level (defined by flag-aggressor);
  * Sell volume – shows only sell traded volumes by each price level (defined by flag-aggressor);
  * Delta – shows Delta value in the form of histogram by each price level. Delta = Buy volume – Sell volume;
  * Average total size – shows average volume of one trade

Average total size = Total volume/ Trades count, where trades count – total number of trades for a specified period of time by each price level;

* Amount – allows setting amount that is necessary for calculation of the Custom total/buy/sell volume trades parameters (described above);
* Show totals – when checked, a total sum of volume profile values is displayed on the chart. It is impossible to enable this option when the Result type has one of the following values: Custom volume trades, Custom buy volume trades, Custom sell volume trades;
* Calculation style – allows to select method of the data range setting. Two modes are available here:
  * From period – allows to specify date range using options From date..To date (Custom) or select one of the predefined options;
  * Price range – allows to specify date range in the visual mode using two vertical lines.
* Keep range – if checked, the position of renderer (two vertical lines used to specify the range) in the 'Price range' mode will be saved relative to the axis X when switching the timeframe or changing the trading symbol. This setting is enabled only if 'Price range' mode is selected;
* Calculation period – is active, when 'From period' is chosen in the Calculating style field. Available options are: custom, today, yesterday, current week, last week, current month and last month;
* Price step – allows setting minimal distance between price levels. Two options are available:
  * Minimum tick – distance between price levels is equal to minimal tick;
  * Custom – allows specifying random distance (custom step) between price levels. Custom >=Minimum tick.
* Histogram color positive/negative – allows choosing histogram color for positive/negative values;
* Max value color – allows choosing color for max volume value on the histogram;
* Labels – allows choosing whether to show or not labels on the histogram. The following options are possible:
  * None – labels are not shown;
  * Left – labels are shown inside the histogram aligned to the left;
  * Right – labels are shown inside the histogram aligned to the right;
* Font color (section Appearance) – allow setting style of the labels displaying.

## Custom volume profile

This tool allows plotting custom profiles by selected area of the chart.

When activating the button for plotting the profile, a crosshair transfers to the selection mode of the data area for further analysis.

Selection of the area for plotting: click on the button![](/files/-MgF4AjwUNdhrhfcPwej)=> click the chart to set up the first border for plotting area selection => click the chart to set up the second border for plotting area selection:

After an area selection, vertical selectors will be hidden from the chart. In order to use a mode of the data range modification for analysis, you should click on the left border of the Custom volume profile, then vertical selectors will be visible again and available for editing.

Right clicking one of the vertical selectors allows such options as: Settings, Remove selected, Lock location.

You can set up the Custom volume profile properties by selecting the option Settings:

The panel Custom volume profile properties allows the settings which are available for Volume profile as well, you can read about them above. However, this panel contains a couple of such specific options, as:

* Point of control ray – if checked, a line with maximal profile volume will be extended to the axis;
* Synchronize with charts – if checked, a custom volume profile tool will be synchronized in all the chart panels of a selected symbol.

# Volume bars

This functionality allows to organize and analyze vertical volumes on the chart. Volume bars can be opened from the Analysis tools menu by clicking on the button![](/files/-MgF4AdlcE_gxfnkVImJ) or through the Context menu -> Analysis tools -> Volume bars.​

Volume bars can be set up in the following way:​

* Visible – controls visibility of the volume bars on the chart; this option is inactive by default, which means the volume bars are not visible on the chart, to make them visible mark the option as active;
* Use real tick volume – this option is inactive by default, so volume is taken from the minute historical data; if it is marked as active, then volume is taken from the tick historical data;
* Value filter – when checked, such elements as Operator and 'Filter value' appear. They allow to set up a constraint for renderers' displaying:
  * Operator – allows to select one of the comparison characters: =, >, >=, <, <=;
  * Filter value – allows to specify value to compare renderers' values with. Renderers' values, which don't correspond to a given condition, will not be displayed on the chart.

E.g., selecting " >=" and specifying the value 30 will result into displaying volume bars having values like 30, 31 \[...] 45 etc.

* Height, % – allows setting the size for area of the volume bars displaying. For example: Height, % = 30, i.e. 30 %;
* Result type – allows selecting by what type volume bars will be built. Available values:

  * Total volume – shows total volume traded for a specified period of time (current mode);
  * Buy volume – shows only buy traded volumes for a specified period of time (defined by flag-aggressor);
  * Sell volume – shows only sell traded volumes for a specified period of time (defined by flag-aggressor);
  * Delta – shows difference between buy and sell volumes. Delta = Buy volume – Sell volume;

  **Note:** **for the correct Volume calculation, trade history for the Instrument is obligatory, that is:**
* **If there are no trades for the Instrument, then the Volume is defined by quote levels;**
* ***If Current Price > Previous Price, then Agerssor flag = Ask;***
* ***If Current Price < Previous price then Agressor flag = Bid;***
* **This leads to the fact that when the price does not change, such quotes fall into the Total volume, but not on one of the Buy/Sell sides, because the system cannot determine their side. Thus, the sum of Buy/Sell volumes may differ from the Total.**
  * Average total size – shows average volume of one trade:

Average total size = Total volume/ Trades count, where: Trades count – total number of trades for a selected period of time;

Average buy size – shows average volume of one buy trade:

Average buy size = Total buy volume/ Buy Trades count, where: Buy trades count – total number of buy trades for a selected period of time;

Average sell size – shows average volume of one sell trade:

Average sell size = Total sell volume/ Sell Trades count, where: Sell trades count – total number of sell trades for a selected period of time;

Custom volume trades, % – this mode summarizes all trades which traded with volume greater than Amount (set in settings) and shows percentage of such trades in the total volume:

Custom buy volume trades, % – this mode summarizes all buy trades which traded with volume greater than Amount (set in settings) and shows percentage of such trades in the total buy volume:

* Amount – allows setting amount that is necessary for calculation of the Custom buy/sell volume trades parameters (described above);
* Size coloring scheme – coloring scheme for displaying. The following schemes are available: Fixed, By bar, By difference, Above/below the moving average;
* Equal/Positive/Negative – allows choosing histogram color for equal/positive/negative values;
* Font color – allows setting style of the labels displaying;
* Show moving average – this option is inactive by default, which means the moving average is not displayed on the chart. To make it visible, mark the option as active. When it is checked, the 'Line color' control allowing to specify moving average line's color, shape and thickness becomes available;
* MA period – allows to specify volume bars' quantity for moving average calculation. This option is used for 'Size coloring scheme=Above/below the moving average' to apply this type of coloring scheme for a specified quantity of volume bars;
* Show value marker on scale – allows showing marker with a current value of volume on the scale.


# Volume dots

Volume dots functionality allows plotting a real-time chart and showing volumes as 2D dots when 1 Tick aggregation method is selected for the chart. Volume dots functionality is also available for historical data.

Blue color of dots shows Buy volume, red color shows Sell volume.

To start displaying the Volume dots on the chart, a user needs to perform the following steps in the ‘Aggregation types’ window, selecting the Edit mode:

* Select the Tick aggregation type;
* Set the Value to “1”;
* Tick the ‘Volume dots’ checkbox (unchecked by default).

The plotting of the Volume dots chart starts immediately after ticking the checkbox and applying the corresponding settings.

Hovering the certain Volume dot allows to view time of the last quote, which this dot includes, and the VWAP.

* Aggregation schemes – allow to select aggregation schemes for Volume dots. The following types are available:
  * By time – dots formation, depending on the set time;
  * By volume – dots formation, depending on the set volume;
  * By price – dots formation, depending on the price level;
  * None – no aggregation scheme. All Volume dots are built on the chart, overlaying one another.
* Time (min) – time period between the end of formation of one Volume dot and the start of formation of another one (available only for ‘By time’ scheme);
* Max volume – volume from which the formation of dots on the chart starts (available only for ‘By volume’ scheme);
* Ignore auction trade – if the checkbox is true, then the trades during the auction are not considered;
* Minimal displayed volume – allows to set the minimal volume for the beginning of dots formatio&#x6E;**;**
* Sell volume color – allows to set Sell volume color;
* Buy volume color – allows to set Buy volume color;
* Dots size – allows to manage the size of volume dots. Zooming of dots on the chart increases or decreases the size of Volume dots without changing the size of the chart. The initial size of each dot depends on the traded volume. The size of the dot corresponds to the amount of traded volume.

Display of volumes depends on the state of the checkbox ‘Abbreviate volumes’ in General settings.

# Bar statistics

This functionality allows aggregating information about volumes by each bar in the form of the table. Bar statistics can be opened from the Analysis tools menu by clicking on the button![](/files/-MgF4C8bKY-NMqNtBscw) or through the Context menu -> Analysis tools -> Bar statistics.

**Note: to work correctly with the tools of analysis, except Volume bars, it is obligatory to have trade and tick history.**

By default bar statistics contains four rows (Trades, Total volume, Average size and Delta), but it can be extended with additional parameters.

The following parameters are available in the Bar statistics section:

* Visible – controls visibility of the bar statistics on the chart;
* Custom total/buy/sell amount – allows to set up amount that is necessary for calculation of the Custom total/buy/sell volume parameters (described above);
* Font color (+ header font color), Grid (+ header grid) – allows to set up style of the labels and grid displaying;
* Colors – allows color selection for different data types displaying (specified below).

Right clicking on the bar statistics header evokes its context menu, where you can enable/disable the visibility of some rows with parameters:

* Trades – the number of trades by each bar for a specified period of time;
* Volume – total volume by each bar for a specified period of time;
* Buy volume – total buy volume by each bar for a specified period of time;
* Sell volume – total sell volume by each bar for a specified period of time;
* Delta – shows difference between buy volume and sell volume by each bar for a specified period of time. Delta = Buy volume – Sell volume;
* Buy volume, % – total buy volume for a specified period of time expressed as a percentage;
* Sell volume, % – total sell volume for a specified period of time expressed as a percentage;
* Delta, % – Delta index expressed as a percentage. Delta, % = Buy volume, % – Sell volume, %;
* Average size – shows average volume of trades by each bar. Average size = Volume/Trades;
* Average buy size – shows average volume of one buy trade

Average buy size = Total buy volume/ Buy Trades count, where Buy trades count – total number of buy trades for a selected period of time;

* Average sell size – shows average volume of one sell trade

Average sell size = Total sell volume/ Sell Trades count, where Sell trades count – total number of sell trades for a selected period of time;

* Custom volume – this mode summarizes all trades which traded with volume greater than Amount (set in settings) and shows percentage of such trades in the total volume

Custom volume, % = Count (Total volume > Amount)/ Total trades \* 100%

Amount = Custom total amount (set in settings);

* Custom buy volume – this mode summarizes all buy trades which traded with volume greater than Amount (set in settings) and shows percentage of such trades in the total buy volume

Custom buy volume, % = Count (Buy volume > Amount)/ Buy trades \* 100%

Amount = Custom buy amount (set in settings);

* Custom sell volume – this mode summarizes all sell trades which traded with volume greater than Amount (set in settings) and shows percentage of such trades in the total sell volume.

Custom sell volume, % = Count (Sell volume > Amount)/ Sell trades \* 100%

Amount = Custom sell amount (set in settings).

* Reset to defaults – allows to reset settings to defaults.


# Time & Sales analysis

This functionality allows analyzing tick history by each bar or by price range selected on the chart. Selected bar or price range should not exceed one day, otherwise – tick history will not be loaded.

Time & Sales can be opened from the Analysis tools menu by clicking on the button ![](/files/-MgF4BsxxU1cNHOWA_Bi) or through Context menu -> Analysis tools -> T\&S.

* Time & Sales mode – allows choosing mode of the data selection: single or price range.
  * Single mode – if chosen, user selects bar on the chart by which information about the trades will be shown.
  * Price range – if chosen, user specifies price range in the visual mode using two vertical lines.
* Keep range – if checked, the position of renderer (two vertical lines used to specify the range) in the 'Price range' mode will be saved relative to the axis X when switching the timeframe or changing the trading symbol. This setting is enabled only if 'Price range' mode is selected.
* Panel position – specifies position of the T\&S table relatively to the chart area: right or left.

Time & Sales table chronologically shows all trades for a symbol by selected period. The following parameters are shown in the T\&S table:

* Time – the time of the trade.
* Price – the price at which the trade fills.
* Size – the size of the trade.
* Source – the source of market data, where a trade took place.
* Side – shows side of the trade: Buy or Sell.

## **T & S settings:**

* Grid – allows to choose the grid type inside of T\&S table: Vertical, Horizontal, Vertical & horizontal, None.
* Aggregation – if checked, all trades with the same price, side, size, and MPId in one row as total are shown. This is applied to the highly-liquid markets.
* Time format – the time of the trade, can be displayed in two modes depending on the time format set in the settings: hh:mm:ss or hh:mm:ss:ms.
* Autosize of columns – allows showing T\&S table in auto size mode.
* Show size in – allows selecting in what form the volume will be shown. General defaults – is taken from general settings; Lots – will be displayed in lots; Real size - will be displayed in real value.
* Round precision – if checked, user can set the precision of the volume display.
* Colors – allows to choose the coloring scheme for table and prints.


# VWAP+

VWAP+ allows calculating a cumulative volume-weighted average price by ticks for defined period.

Visible – controls visibility of the render on a chart. Default state – False.

Historical mode – allows determining whether the render will count its historical values. Default state – False.

* If Historical mode is checked, then render counts both historical and current values.
* If Historical mode is not activated, then render counts only current values.

Line #1:

Line visible – allows visibility of a certain line of render. Default state – False.

Calculation cycle – cycle for calculation of cumulative VWAP+ value. The following options are available:

* Custom cycle – default value, with this value the length of the renderer calculation cycle is set by the user;
* Intraday – defines the period of cumulative calculations of render values in minutes from the beginning of a trade day. In one trade day can be lots of intraday cycles.

Days number – number of days for calculating the values of the volume analysis by ticks, if Calculation cycle is set to “Custom cycle”;

Start/End day time – allows to determine time of start and end of a day;

VWAP = ∑ price i \* size i / ∑ size i,

where 'size i' is the volume traded at 'price i' .

Intraday cycle – defines the period of cumulative calculations of render values in minutes from the beginning of a trade day. In one trade day can be lots of intraday cycles.

Line style – a set of standard controls for settings of visual look of a render.

Line #2 and Line #3 have the same settings as Line #1.

# Grid

The Grid panel allows user to open a set of Charts in one panel and move this set to another monitor as a separate panel.

**Toolbar**

The Grid panel toolbar consists of three buttons:

* Grid editor – this button is located on the top left corner of the ribbon. It enables to specify the number of panels and the type of panel.

* Refresh – allows to refresh all charts.
* Reset – this button resets panels size to default state.

All panels in the Grid panel can be resized by a user: move the mouse cursor on the panels’ joint, after that drag and drop the panel to the needed size. In order to move the Grid panel to another monitor, click on the button![](/files/-MgF4FYWUXxIBXGK8Z9c) at the top right corner of the Grid panel and select Detach.


# Watchlist

The Watchlist panel displays real-time market data for each symbol available through a broker.

To open a Watchlist panel, select Terminal -> Watchlist.

For each symbol, the following information is available:

* Symbol - selected symbol.
* Last - the last trade price.
* Last size - the last trade volume.
* Last date - the last update date.
* Last time - time of the last quote update.
* Volume - shows cumulative volume traded for today; Volume is null for OTC FX instruments, not null for Exchange traded instruments.
* Exchange - name of the exchange on which symbol is traded.
* Match volume - shows volume traded on the auction session (pre & post).
* Bid - the last best bid price.
* Bid size - the volume of the best bid.
* Ask - the last best ask price.
* Ask size - the volume of the best ask.
* Change - the price deviation from a Previous close price.
* Change, % - the price deviation from a Previous close price in a percentage.
* Open - the day's open price.
* High - the day's highest price.
* Low - the day's lowest price.
* Prev. close - the previous day's close price.
* Lot size - the size of one lot.
* Expiry date - the date of expiration (for options).
* Spread - the change for current price in pips (Ask-Bid).
* Spread, % - the percentage change for a current price.
* Description - the symbol description (company name, type).
* Symb. type - the symbol type (market category).
* Last update - last data update.
* Ind. auction pr. - the price at which the orders participating in an auction will be executed, if the auction match were occurred at that point.
* Current session - information on the current trading session for the instrument.
* Symbol status - the instrument trading status, available values: Open, Closed. With the symbol status set to Closed, the instrument trading is blocked;
* Ticks - displays quantity of L1 quotes that came from Provider; also can be used for displaying the volumes of FX symbols.
* Settlement price - shows value of the current settlement price.
* Previous settlement price - shows value of the previous day settlement price.
* Reference price - reference price for equities.
* Reset to defaults - allows to reset settings to defaults.
* Settings - opens settings window.
* Comment - allows user to add some useful information about trading symbol, to describe the market situation and potential trading possibilities. Click on the comment row in order to open a dialog window for adding, editing and saving the comments:

**Symbols lists creation**

The Watchlist panel enables user to create custom sets of symbols lists. In order to add symbols to the Watchlist, click on the button![](/files/-MgF4B06SQ4I13zes8gw), located at the top left corner of the panel’s toolbar. Select the needed symbols from the 'Symbols lookup' window. By finishing symbols selection, press 'Add'. From the drop-down menu of Symbol list user is able to create new symbol lists. In this list all created instruments lists are displayed. Buttons of list renaming or deleting are located right to each list.

**Customizing the Watchlist**

​Right clicking within the Watchlist panel evokes its context menu. From this menu a user can:

* edit symbols lists: add new symbols, remove the needed symbol(s) or clear all symbols at once;
* switch among existing symbols lists;
* group symbols by: lot size, expire date, symbol type;
* hide or show the Watchlist panel toolbar;
* duplicate the Watchlist panel;
* open search lookup;
* receive notifications about trading events by preset conditions;
* export symbols list to CSV or Excel format.

## **Symbol Info**

Symbol Info panel allows displaying settings information for a selected symbol. To open the panel, evoke a context menu of a certain symbol in the Watchlist and select the "Symbol info" option.

The panel header contains standard elements such as the ‘Close’ and ‘View more actions’ buttons. To the left of these elements, there is a control for panel linking, it is not active by default.

When linking is enabled in the Symbol info panel, focusing on an instrument in another panel (Watchlist, Positions, Orders, etc.) leads to replacing the information displayed in the Symbol info panel i.e. the information will be changed to the one about the instrument in focus.

All information is divided into 6 groups. Each group can be hidden by one click on a group header. The following symbols appear on a header when a group is hidden or opened![](/files/-MgF4B0Y65dDuDJLvVcy).

The following information is available in each group:

1\) General info:

* Symbol – name of a symbol selected in the lookup;
* Description – detailed symbol's information;
* Exchange – an exchange name, where the instrument (symbol) is traded;
* Symbol type – type of a symbol traded on the market;
* Settlement system – T+x settlement cycle;
* Asset – displays the Asset assigned to the Instrument, if available. Available for ETFs;
* Exercise style – shows the exercise style. Available for Options. Available styles:
  * European;
  * American;
* Underlier – name of the asset, which will be delivered. Available for Options, Futures, Spot, T-Bills;
* Contract month – date of the contract expiration. Available for Options and Futures;
* First trade date – date when the contract can be traded firstly. Available for Options and Futures;
* Last trade date – date when the contract can be traded last time. Available for Options, Futures and Forward;
* Notice date – date when the notification about soonest expiration date must be sent. Available for Futures;
* Settlement date – date when delivery has to take place. Available for Options and Futures;
* Close-out deadline – date when positions will be closed by a specific symbol. Available for Futures and Options;

For symbols with asset class Futures and Options, expiration dates templates are available on the Server. Your administrator can select there the following templates, depending on which the dates will be defined for Symbol info panel:

* Contract month;
* Contract month, Last trade date, Settlement date, Notice date, First trade date;
* Contract month, Last trade date, Settlement date, Notice date;
* Contract month, Last trade.
* Delivery method – type of asset delivery. Available for Futures, Bonds, Spot, Forward instruments. Can be only Cash for Bonds;
* Strike price – price level of an underlier by which Option contract must be executed;
* Maturity date – date of the contract expiration;
* Face value – a security's nominal value defined in quoting currency. Available for Bonds, T-Bills;
* Yield – current yield value, this signed value is displayed in percent. Available for T-Bills. Clicking the Refresh link to the right allows to refresh the yield value;
* Coupon rate, % – a nominal interest rate for a bond, which is regulated during a bond's emission. Available for Bonds;
* Coupon cycle – periodicity of a bond yield payment to a position holder. Available for Bonds;
* YTM, % – a current interest rate on a bond yield. Available for Bonds. Clicking the link Refresh allows to refresh the YTM's value.

YTM, % = ( (Coupon payment + (Face value - Current price)/N) / ((Face value + Current price)/2) ) \* 100%, where:

Coupon payment=(Coupon rate/100) \* Face value;

Current price - Current price of a bond;

N - quantity of years before a bond redemption date.

* Accrued interest – value of accrued interest, which a buyer will pay when buying a Bond, and a seller will get when selling a Bond. Value is indicated for 1 lot. Measured in quotting currency. Available for Bonds. Clicking the link Refresh allows to refresh the Accrued interest's value in its field;
* Previous yield payment – last date of yield payment according to 'Coupon cycle'. Available for Bonds;
* Next yield payment – next date of yield payment according to 'Coupon cycle'. Available for Bonds;
* Asset – name of the asset for the instrument. Available for Equities/CFD, Spot, Forward;
* ISIN – International securities identification number;
* Industry – shows the industry identification of a symbol;
* Sector – shows the sector identification of a symbol.

2\) Trading info:

* Symbol status – trading status; available values: Open, Closed, Trading halt. When the symbol status is Closed or Trading halt, the instrument trading is blocked;
* Current session – information on the current trading session period for the instrument;
* Trading blocked on session – shows whether trading is blocked for the current session, available values: Yes, No;
* Quoting currency – information about currency in which quote is calculated;
* Delivery status – status of asset delivery;
* Lot size – amount of base asset for one lot;
* Contract size – amount of the underlying asset for one contract;
* Minimal lot – the smallest part of lot for which trading is available;
* Maximum lot – the largest trade allowed in lots;
* Max. position qty. – shows maximum quantity of positions per selected symbol;
* Lot step – step of lot changes;
* Next holiday – shows date of a next holiday when trade is not allowed;
* Allowed operations – shows operations allowed for a current symbol;
* Allowed order types – shows order types allowed for a current symbol;
* High limit – is an upper limit of an allowable price band above which delayed orders are not accepted;
* Low limit – is a lower limit of an allowable price band below which delayed orders are not accepted;
* Allow short positions – this parameter shows whether opening short positions using the current symbol is allowed;
* Tick size – minimal price change;
* Tick cost – amount of base asset for one tick.

Note: The variable tick cost/size value for the Futures, Futures CFD, Options symbol types can be set depending on price ranges. The variable tick size value for the Equities, Equities CFD and Indices also can be set depending on price ranges.

3\) Margin requirements:

* Margin type – type of margin calculation. Can be different for different assets;
* Margin by account – shows margin requirements based on account coefficients;
* Margin req. – shows margin requirements, which depend on the margin calculation type. When the 'None' margin calculation type is selected for the instrument, the "-" is displayed. When the 'Tiered price based custom coeffieicent' margin calculation type is selected, the margin req. values are displayed for all the Tiers set;
* Buy – shows margin requirements for long positions which use different long/short margin and don’t depend on overnight margin;
* Sell – shows margin requirements for short positions which use different long/short margin and don’t depend on overnight margin;
* Day – shows day margin requirements which don’t depend on long/short margin;
* Overnight – shows overnight margin requirements which don’t depend on long/short margin;
* Initial req. – amount of margin which is necessary for trading with one lot;
* Maintenance req. – amount of margin which is necessary for keeping open one lot position;
* Overnight buy – shows coefficients of initial and maintenance margin for long position overnight transfer;
* Overnight sell – shows coefficients of initial and maintenance margin for short position overnight transfer;
* Day buy – amount of margin which is necessary for holding a long position during a trade session;
* Day sell – amount of margin which is necessary for holding a short position during a trade session.

Note: if coefficients of initial and maintenance margin have the same value, for example 2%, then they will be displayed as one value in the Margin requirements section – Margin req. – 2 %. The same is true for each Tier.

4\) Fees:

* Fill per lot (Buy/Sell/Short/Open/Close) – trader pays fee for each traded lot. Verification of Min. value withdrawal is executed for each fill;
* Order per lot – trader pays fee for each traded lot. Verification of Min. value withdrawal is executed for a whole order;
* Custody – displays the Custodial fee measure in basis points (bp) for the Instrument, if available;
* Fill volume (Buy/Sell/Short/Open/Close), % – fee calculates on base of the volume of each trade;
* Fill volume (Buy/Sell/Open/Close) with min p/d, % – commission from the volume, which ensures a day minimum in case of partial filling of an order;
* Per fill – trader pays fee for each fill of an order;
* Per transaction – trader pays fee for each transaction. Transactions: place an order, cancel an order, and modify an order;
* Per phone transaction – trader pays fee for each transaction which was made by a Phone dealer;
* VAT – trader pays VAT from each fee operation;
* Order volume % (Buy/Sell/Open/Close) – trader pays fee per each part of order volume that was filled;
* Long swap – shows the swap value applied to overnight long positions of an instrument;
* Short swap – shows the swap value applied to overnight short positions of an instrument;
* Short position interest, % – shows the interest for short positions value for an instrument (available for Equities, Equities CFD), if available;
* Latest historical long swap – shows the long swap value for the previous day;
* Latest historical short swap – shows the short swap value for the previous day;
* Historical swap last updated on – shows the date of last historical swaps update;
* Option exercise fee (Long) – fee that will be charged on the Long option expiration date, but only if the option has status ‘in-the-money’ by that time. Commission will be charged for the early option execution as well;
* Option exercise fee (Short) – fee that will be charged on the Short option expiration date, but only if the option has status ‘in-the-money’ by that time.

The fee value for the fee types such as 'Fill per lot', 'Order per lot', 'Per fill', 'Volume, %' and 'Order volume %' can be set depending on quantity ranges.

Symbol info panel displays these fee types depending upon commission plan settings on the Server.

5\) Rebates:

The rebates value can be set for the fee types such as 'Per lot', 'Fill volume, %' depending on quantity ranges.

* Add/Remove liquidity rebate per lot – means that for each lot in a made trade the fixed rebate value will be charged/returned (in the plan's currency);
* Add/Remove liquidity rebate per volume, % – means that charged/returned sum will be calculated as a percent from a trade volume.

6\) Indicative market schedule:

Information about settings for all trade sessions:

* Before market;
* Pre-market;
* Main;
* Post-market;
* After market.

In order to make the needed columns or rows with parameters visible in the Symbol info panel, go to Context menu -> Settings -> Columns -> and simply check them in the list.


# Time & Sales

Time & Sales panel lists sales operations on the market.

To open the Time & Sales panel select Terminal -> Time & Sales.

The Time & Sales panel chronologically shows all trades for a symbol in real time mode.

The information about chosen symbol starts streaming upon opening the panel.

For each trade, the following data is available:

* Symbol – the relevant symbol.
* Time – the time of the trade, can be displayed in two modes depending on the time format set in the settings: hh:mm:ss or hh:mm:ss:ms.
* Price – the price at which the trade fills.
* Size – the size of the trade.
* Side – shows side of the trade: Buy or Sell.
* Source – a source of market data, where a trade took place.

## **Context menu**

Right clicking within the Time\&Sales panel evokes its context menu with following options:

* Clear table – deletes all quotes and trades from the panel.
* Show quotes – if checked, the Time & Sales panel shows trades together with quotes. This option makes sense only for Real time mode.
* Aggregation – if checked, all trades with the same price, side, size, and MPId in one row as total are shown. This is applied to the highly-liquid markets.

If Show quotes = true and Aggregation = true, then column 'Bid \* Ask size' in this mode displays sum of Bids \* Asks by the best price level.

If Show quotes = true and Aggregation = false, then all requests are aggregated on the best price level by the same source and column 'Bid \* Ask size' displays the aggregated value of Bids/Asks with the biggest volume.

* Show toolbar – shows/hides the panel's toolbar with symbol's lookup.
* Search – opens search lookup.
* Export – allows to export table to CSV or Excel format.
* Table alerts – allows to receive notifications about trading events by preset conditions.

## **Time & Sales settings**

* Time format – the time of the trade, can be displayed in two modes depending on the time format set in the settings: hh:mm:ss or hh:mm:ss:ms.
* Show size in – allows selecting in what form the volume will be shown. General defaults – is taken from general settings; Lots – will be displayed in lots; Real size - will be displayed in real value.
* Round precision – if checked, user can set the precision of the volume display.
* Autosize of columns – allows showing T\&S table in auto size mode.
* Grid – allows to choose the grid type: Vertical, Horizontal, Vertical & horizontal, None.
* Rows limit – allows to define the limit of rows to be displayed.

# Settings

In order to configure the required indicator, the user needs to open the \<Indicator name> properties window. In order to open this window, simply click the label with the indicator name, which will be displayed in the upper left corner of the chart after adding the indicator. Properties window contains the following tabs:

* Parameters – contains general indicator settings;
* Line #i properties – contains plotting parameters and indicator line styles;
* Visibility – allows creating a list of timeframes for the indicator displaying.

The following buttons are available in the Properties window:

* Set as default – saves the set indicator settings as default settings;
* Reset – offers two options namely, Reset to my settings and Reset to factory settings. Depending on the option selected, the current settings will be reset to the user's or to the initial (factory);
* OK – applies settings, closes the settings screen. The indicator will be plotted in accordance with the saved settings;
* Close – this button closes the Properties window.

## Parameters tab

* Is background checkbox – defines the layer of the indicator line, unchecked by default. If checked, then the indicator lines will be displayed under the main chart;
* Win num on chart for indicator – defines the window for plotting the indicator, the following radio buttons are available: Main, Sub window, or Sub window number (max qty of sub windows is 3);
* Specific indicator settings – considered in the context of individual indicators in the relevant articles.

## Line properties

* Visible checkbox – determines the visibility of the indicator line;
* Line – allows setting the line drawing characteristics: style, thickness, color;
* Line name – for entering the line name;
* Time shift – determines the shift of indicator lines along the timeline by a specified number of minutes;
* Show line marker checkbox – determines the display of a label with the indicator value on the price scale.

## Visibility

This tab contains settings that allow to hide or show the indicator depending on the selected Time Frame.

# BB (Bollinger bands)

Bollinger Bands is a technical analysis tool invented by John Bollinger in the 1980s. Having evolved from the concept of trading bands, Bollinger Bands, and the related %b and bandwidth indicators can be used to measure the "highness" or "lowness" of the price relative to previous trades. Bollinger Bands are a volatility indicator. It is plotted at distances equal to a certain number of standard deviations from the moving average. Since standard deviation value depends on volatility, the bands are self-adjusting: the width of the bands increases when the market is unstable, and decreases in more stable periods.

Bollinger Bands are usually plotted on a price chart, but they can be displayed on the indicator chart as well. Interpretation of the Bollinger Bands is based on the fact that prices tend to stay within the upper and lower boundaries of the band. A distinctive feature of the Bollinger Bands is the spacing due to the price volatility. The second feature of the Bollinger Bands is their variable width due to the price volatility. During periods of significant price changes (i.e. high volatility), the bands widen to give more space for the prices. During periods of stagnation (i.e., low volatility), bands narrow to keep prices within their boundaries.

Bollinger Bands indicator key points are:

1. Abrupt price changes usually occur after the band narrows, which corresponds to a decrease in volatility.
2. If prices go beyond the range, the continuation of the current trend should be expected.
3. If the pikes and hollows outside the bands are followed by the pikes and hollows within the bands, a trend reversal may occur.
4. A price movement that started from one of the band boundaries usually reaches the opposite one.

The latter observation is useful for predicting price benchmarks. The indicator looks as follows on the chart:

Bollinger Bands consist of:

* N-period moving average (MA);
* top line at K times an N-period standard deviation above the moving average (MA + Kσ);
* bottom line at K times an N-period standard deviation below the moving average (MA − Kσ).

Typical values for N and K are 20 and 2, respectively. The default choice for the average is a simple moving average, but other types of averages can be employed as needed. Exponential moving averages are a common second choice. Typically, the same period is used for both the middle line and the calculation of standard deviation.

## Calculation

Bollinger bands are formed by three lines. The middle line (ML) is a usual Moving Average.

ML = SUM (CLOSE, N) / N = SMA (CLOSE, N)

The top line (TL) coincides with the middle line by a certain number of standard deviations (D).

TL = ML + (D \* SD)

The bottom line (BL) is the middle line shifted down by the same number of standard deviations.

BL = ML - (D \* SD)

Where:

SUM (..., N) — sum for N periods;\
CLOSE — close price;\
N — indicates the number of periods used in the calculation;\
SMA — Simple Moving Average;\
SQRT — square root;\
SD — standard deviation:

SD = SQRT (SUM ((CLOSE — SMA (CLOSE, N))^2, N)/N)

It is recommended to use 20-period Simple Moving Average as the middle line, and plot the top and bottom lines two standard deviations away from it. Besides, moving averages of less than 10 periods are of little effect.


# BBF (Bollinger bands flat)

**Bollinger bands flat** indicator provides the same data as Bollinger bands but is displayed in a separate field and thus makes it easy to determine whether prices are in or out of the band.

This indicator consists of:

* Zero line – shows zero on the chart for user convenience;
* Positive deviation – shows the value of the positive standard deviation, shifted N times up;
* Negative deviation – shows the value of the negative standard deviation shifted N times down;
* Delta – shows the difference between the current value and the value of the moving average at a given point.&#x20;

## Calculation

As can be understood from the above, only three components of the indicator are calculated:

Delta = ClosePrice - MA, where

ClosePrice is the current value of the Close price,

MA - the value of the moving average.

Positive deviation = A \* D, where

A - deviation parameter value,

D - dispersion relative to the moving average,

Negative deviation = (-1) \_\_A \* D

## Main parameters

* Sources prices for MA – the type of price at which the indicator will be calculated for the selected period. Available values: Low, Open, High, Close, Typical, Medium, Weighted;
* Type of moving average – type of moving average calculation. Available values: Simple, Exponential, Modified, Linear weighted;
* Period – the number of periods involved in the indicator calculation;
* Deviation – the number of standard deviations;
* Shift – the number of indicator values by which there will be a shift up or down by the number of standard deviations.

# Price channel

The Price channel indicator is a trend indicator based on a simple and effective rule: in an uptrend, price forms higher highs, and in a downtrend, lower lows.

The Price channel indicator is one of the most effective trend indicators. This is partly due to the mechanics of the indicator, which makes it impossible to miss a trend move. Consistently using price channels to find an entry point at the start of a trend ensures that you don't miss the trend.

A price channel is a pair of parallel trend lines that form a chart pattern for a stock or commodity. Channels can be horizontal, ascending, or descending. When prices pass and stay through a trend line representing support or resistance, the trend is considered broken and a "breakout" occurs.

The Price Channel indicator lines are support and resistance levels that vary with the price. A sell signal is generated when the price reaches the upper boundary and a buy signal - when the price reaches the lower one.

When setting up the indicator, it is important to select the correct period of the price channel, it should closely match the used timeframe. By default, the period value is 10. Occasionally two Price channel indicators with different periods are set on the chart at once. In this case, buy signals are the breakaway of the support line with a shorter period from the line with a longer period. Conversely, a sell signal is a breakaway of the resistance line with a shorter period from a similar line with a longer period. For convenience, the color of the indicator lines can be changed so that they differ.

If the parameter is selected successfully, the channel will correspond to the state of market equilibrium, and all price outputs beyond its limit should be accompanied by a price return. About 5% of prices should go outside the lines, 95% - inside.

**Price channel breakout**

The breakout of trading channel boundaries can be an important signal for trading. A breakout implies a subsequent price movement in its direction. The breakout reliability can be assessed by the following factors:

* Trading channel duration: the longer it is, the larger the breakout in the future can be;
* Channel width: breakouts of narrow channels tend to provide particularly reliable trading signals;
* Breakout confirmation: the presence of the fundamental reasons and supporting purchases (sales) strengthens the trend.

All the forces of supply and demand are represented by price. The predominance of one force creates trend direction. Trend channels occur in all time frames and in every asset class, like futures, stocks, mutual funds, etc., and are useful for trading or investing.

## Calculation

The Price Channel calculations are simple:

* The upper band (line) of the channel is constructed as the highest high over a specified period of time (the specified number of price bars);
* The lower band (line) of the channel is constructed as the lowest low over a specified period of time;
* The middle line is constructed as the average of the highest high and the lowest low.

## Main parameters

Period of price channel – allows setting the number of periods for which price highs and lows will be determined.

# Keltner channel

The Keltner channel is a technical analysis indicator that shows a central moving average line plus the channel lines at a distance above and below. The indicator is named after Chester W. Keltner, who described it in his 1960 book "How to make money in commodities". This name was applied by those who heard of it from him, but Keltner itself called it the ten-day moving average trading rule and indeed made no claim to any originality for the idea.

In Keltner's description, the centerline is a 10-day simple moving average of the typical price, where the typical price each day is the average of high, low, and close,

Typical price = (high + low + close)/3

The lines above and below are drawn at a distance from this centerline, a distance that is a simple moving average of trading ranges over the past 10 days (i.e. a range from high to low on each day).

The trading strategy is to treat a close above the upper line as a strong bullish signal or a close below the lower line as a strong bearish signal and buy or sell with the trend accordingly, but perhaps with other indicators to confirm. Exits can be based on a very conservative Stop loss, a rather high Take profit, and an intersection with the centerline.

## Calculation

Keltner Channel Middle Line=EMA

Keltner Channel Upper Band=EMA+2∗ATR

Keltner Channel Lower Band=EMA−2∗ATR, where

EMA=Exponential moving average (typically over 20 periods)

ATR=Average True Range (typically over 10 or 20 periods) ​

# MAE (Moving average envelope)

The Moving average envelope is an indicator that is based on a simple or exponential moving average and sets bands based on a given percentage deviation, thus creating envelopes. Then these envelopes can be used in two forms:

a) Envelopes can be used to determine the trend of a currency pair when the market is trending.

b) In cases where the market is range-bound, the moving average envelope indicator can also be used to indicate when a currency pair is oversold or overbought, just like a momentum oscillator would.

The Envelopes technical indicator is formed with two Moving averages, one of which is shifted upward and the other downward. The selection of the optimal relative number of band margins shifts is determined by market volatility: the higher it is, the stronger the shift.

Envelopes define the upper and lower margins of the price range. A sell signal appears when the price reaches the upper margin of the band; a buy signal appears when the price reaches the lower margin.

The logic behind the Envelopes is that overzealous buyers and sellers push the price towards extreme values (i.e., upper and lower bands), at which point the prices often stabilize, moving towards more realistic levels.

## Calculation

UPPER BAND = SMA (CLOSE, N) \* \[1 + K / 1000]

LOWER BAND = SMA (CLOSE, N) \* \[1 - K / 1000]

Where:

UPPER BAND — upper indicator line;

LOWER BAND — lower indicator line;

SMA — Simple Moving Average;

CLOSE — close price;

N — averaging period;

K / 1000 — shifting value from the average (measured in basis points).

## Main parameters

The parameters of the Moving average envelopes depend on your trading/investing goals and the characteristics of the security involved. Traders will likely use shorter (faster) moving averages and relatively tight envelopes. Investors will likely prefer longer (slower) moving averages with wider envelopes.

* Mode. Upper Line: Upper Band, Lower Line: Lower Band;
* Period: Averaging period for calculating the main line;
* Type of MA: Simple, Exponential, Modified, Linear weighted;
* Deviation: Percent deviation from the main line, default is 0.1;
* Source price for MA: Close, Open, High, Low, Median, Typical, and Weighted.

Use a simple moving average in the envelope indicator when:

* The currency pair is not too volatile;
* A long-term trade focus is in view.

Use an exponential moving average in the envelope indicator when:

* The currency pair is volatile (a volatility indicator can help in this regard).
* The trade is going to be short-term.


# Moving averages


# EMA (Exponential moving average)

The Exponential moving average is a *\*\**&#x74;ype of moving average that is similar to a simple moving average, except that more weight is given to the latest data. The Exponential moving average is also known as the "Exponentially weighted moving average".

The Exponential moving average can be used as a crossover system. For a crossover system, the user can insert three different Exponential moving averages. Typically, the lengths of these Moving averages are short-, intermediate-, and long-term. The commonly used system is 4, 9, and 18 intervals or periods. The interval can be in ticks, minutes, days, weeks, or months; it is a function of the chart period.

Moving averages work best in trending markets. A buy signal occurs when the short-term and intermediate-term averages cross from upward above the longer-term average. Conversely, a sell signal is issued when the short-term and intermediate-term averages cross from above to below the longer-term average. The user can utilize the same two Moving average signals, but most market technicians suggest using longer-term averages when trading only two Exponential moving averages in a crossover system.

Another trading approach is to use the current price concept. If the current price is above the Exponential moving averages, you buy. Liquidate this position when the current price crosses below either Moving average. For a short position, sell when the current price is below the Exponential moving average. Liquidate that position when the current price rises above the Exponential Moving Averages.

## Calculation

An exponentially smoothed Moving average is calculated by adding a certain share of the current closing price to the previous moving average value. With exponentially smoothed Moving averages, recent close prices are of more value. P-percent exponential moving average will look like this:

EMA = (CLOSE (i) \* P) + (EMA (i - 1) \* (1 - P))

Where:

CLOSE (i) — current period close price;

EMA (i - 1) — value of the Moving Average of a preceding period;

P — the percentage of using the price value.

## Main parameters

* Period: EMA period, 9 by default;
* Source price for EMA: Close, Open, High, Low, Median, Typical, and Weighted.

# KAMA (Kaufman adaptive moving average)

The KAMA indicator, i.e. Kaufman adaptive moving average was created by Perry J. Kaufman and presented in his 1998 book "Trading Systems and Methods, 3rd Edition". Kaufman created KAMA to take market noise into account. If there is an Uptrend with some small swings prevailing on the market, the market noise will be negligible and KAMA follows the price very closely. On the other hand, if the market moves sideways (ranging market) – this means that the Close price closes some days up, some days down, the market noise is very high. KAMA follows the price at a larger distance in order to then reduce the number of false signals.

SC (Smoothing constant) is a standard part of the moving average plotting. SC determines the level to which the moving average is sensitive to existing price fluctuations. SC moves in the range from 0 to 1. The lower the Smoothing constant, the less sensible the moving average is. The main advantage of KAMA over other moving averages is that it takes into account not only the direction but also market volatility. KAMA adjusts its length according to prevailing market conditions.

## Calculation

ER (Efficiency Ratio = Direction/Volatility)

ER = \[ABS (Closet - Closet-n]/ \[n ∑ (ABS (Closet – Closet-1))],

n - is a selected number of days for the moving average calculation. If each day would close higher than the previous day, the ER would be 1. If the market moved sideways with any price change at all, ER would be 0.

Determine the shortest and longest moving average that will be used in the KAMA calculation to determine the Smoothing constant (SC of these averages). Kaufman recommended using a range of 2 to 30 days.

SC = ER \* (Fast SC – Slow SC) + Slow SC

KAMA shortens and extends the time period used for moving average calculation according to the conditions that prevail on the market. KAMA becomes more sensible or robust depending on the market. Despite the fact that KAMA will be calculated as a 30-days Moving average during a volatile market, it still moves slightly up and down. Kaufman recommended making SC less sensible by its squaring:

C = SC \* SC

C is the final smoothing constant that is used for the KAMA calculation. The final KAMA calculation is similar to the EMA calculation:

KAMA = Kamat-1 + \[(C \* (Closet – Kamat-1)]

Compared to the Simple moving average (MVA, SMA), KAMA has less lag and generates fewer false signals. KAMA can also be used to smooth out some other technical indicators. This indicator looks as follows on the chart:

# LWMA (Linear weighted moving average)

Linear Weighted Moving Average is a type of moving average that just like the exponential moving average assigns a higher weighting to recent price data but makes it easier and more pronounced. This average is calculated by taking each of the closing prices over a given time period and multiplying them by a predetermined “weight” coefficient. Once the position of the time periods has been taken into account, they are summed up and divided by the sum of the number of time periods.

## Calculation

In the case of the weighted moving average, the latest data is of more value than the earlier data. The Weighted moving average is calculated by multiplying each closing price of the series by a certain weight coefficient:

LWMA = SUM (CLOSE (i) \* i, N) / SUM (i, N)

Where:

SUM — sum;

CLOSE (i) — current close price;

SUM (i, N) — total sum of weight coefficients;

N — smoothing period.

## Main parameters

* Period of Linear weighted moving average – the number of periods involved in the indicator, 9 by default;
* Sources prices for MA –  price type at which the indicator will be calculated. Available values: Low, Open, High, Close, Typical, Medium, Weighted.

The Linear moving average is less inert than the Simple moving average. When comparing Exponential moving average, it considers fewer bars and does not depend on the previous value, so when applied to the same prices, it will always show the same value, regardless of how much data is preloaded. On the other hand, the linear weight makes the line sharper than other moving averages, so it produces more "noise" in a flat market.

The Linear weighted moving average is used just like EMA, most traders use LWMA in conjunction with a simple moving average. Buy and sell signals can be generated during breakouts and crossovers of moving averages. Trends are confirmed when SMA and LWMA move in the same direction.

# MAS3 (3MASignal)

As the name of this technical indicator implies, its plotting is based on the intersection of three Moving averages, namely: Short moving average, Middle moving average, and Long Moving Average. Utilizing this technical indicator the user can get three signals in one: the intersection of three moving averages.

## Calculation

This indicator is calculated in three stages. At the first stage, the number of the period from which the indicator will be calculated is determined. For this, the following values specified by the user in the settings are used: short period, middle period, long period, and amount of bars passed before opening position.

At the second stage, a moving average is calculated for all three periods.

At the third stage, the indicator value is calculated cyclically. The number of calculation cycles is equal to the number of bars passed before the opening position. If the number of bars passed before an opening position is negative or equal to zero, then the indicator value at any point is equal to zero.

During the first calculation cycle of the current indicator value, the following conditions are checked:

1 condition: midMA> lgMa. If True, then the following condition is checked: midMA \<shMa. If True, then assign the current indicator value equal to 1 and start the next calculation cycle. If False, then check condition 2;

2 condition: midMA> shMa. If True then the following condition is checked: midMA \<lgMa, If True - assign the current indicator value equal to -1 and start the next calculation cycle. If False, then assign the current indicator value equal to 0.

On the second and following cycles, until reaching the number of bars passed before opening position:

The indicator value is calculated for the period that is away from the current period by the number of the calculation cycle in the same way as in the first cycle.

2 conditions are checked:

1 condition. The value of the indicator obtained in the previous calculation cycle is compared with 1. If True, the following condition is checked: the indicator value for the period that is away from the current one by the number of the calculation cycle is not equal to 1. True - the indicator value on this calculation cycle is assigned 0 and moving to the next calculation cycle.

2 condition. The current value of the indicator obtained in the previous cycle is compared with -1. If True, the following condition is checked: the indicator value for the period that is away from the current one by the number of the calculation cycle is not -1. True - the indicator value for this calculation cycle is assigned 0 and moving to the next calculation cycle.

If none of the conditions is met, then the indicator value for this calculation cycle remains the same and moving to the next calculation cycle.

## Main parameters

* Short moving average – the number of periods involved in calculating the moving average;
* Middle moving average – the number of periods involved in calculating the moving average;
* Long moving average – the number of periods involved in calculating the moving average;
* Amount of bars passed before opening positions – the number of bars that are taken into account in calculating the current value.

# MD (McGinley dynamic)

A little known technical indicator developed by John McGinley in 1990. The indicator attempts to solve a problem inherent in moving averages that use fixed time intervals (i.e. moving averages with a period of 10 or 21), the problem that causes those moving averages to be outrun in fast markets.

The McGinley Dynamic indicator (MD) was developed to avoid false trading signals due to volatility spikes. While this looks like a "normal" moving average, it actually uses an offset to push the moving average forward 1 period and a volatility filter to avoid reversals. While simple and exponential moving averages are faster than the MD, the MD adjusts to faster/slower moving markets and has a more stable track record when associated with longer-term trends.

Key findings of the indicator are:

* The McGinley Dynamic Indicator is a type of moving average that has been designed to better track the market than existing moving average indicators;
* The McGinley Dynamic indicator solves the problem of changing market speeds by including an automatic adjustment factor in its formula that speeds up or slows down the indicator in trending or ranging markets;
* The McGinley Dynamic Indicator enhances conventional moving averages by minimizing price separation and volatile reversals to more accurately reflect price movement.

## Calculation

The indicator is calculated using the following simplified formula:

Dynamic = Yesterday's EMA + ( ( Today's close - Yesterday's EMA ) / ( Today's close / Yesterday's EMA \* 125 ) )

Where:

* 125 - smoothing factor (periods) set by default;
* EMA – Exponential moving average.

## Main settings

The main setting of this indicator, which differs from others, is Periods of smoothing i.e. the number of periods involved in smoothing the indicator.

* Periods – number of periods involved in smoothing the indicator, 12 by default;
* Smoothing – smoothing rate, 125 by default.

**Bullish, Buy Signals and Bearish, Sell Signals.**

McGinley indicator should be combined with moving averages to form a Forex trading system. This indicator should be used as the smoothing mechanism where the moving average is volatile or ranging:

* Bullish, Buy Signal – buy signal is generated when the price crosses above the indicator;
* Bearish, Sell Signal – sell signal is generated when the price crosses below the indicator.

# MMA (Modified moving average)

Modified moving average (MMA) is an algebraic tool that makes averages more susceptible to price shifts. The Modified moving average is a special case of the Exponential moving average, for which the smoothing constant is equal to the reciprocal of the smoothing interval. This average is a slope that helps it catch up with the rising or falling value of the currency's trading price.

In general, Modified moving averages resemble Simple moving averages but there are some differences. The first point of the Modified moving average is calculated precisely as the first point of the Simple moving average. However, all subsequent points are measured by adding the new price and then subtracting the last average from the resulting sum. MMA is the difference, the new point on the scheme.

## Calculation

MMA = price \* K + MMA \* (1.0 – K), where

K = 1/ N

N - period of MA for calculation

## Main parameters

* Period of Modified MA – number of periods for calculating the modified moving average, 2 by default;
* Source price for MA – determines the type of price at which the moving average will be calculated, available values: Close, Open, High, Low, Median, Typical, and Weighted.

# PPMA (Pivot point moving average)

Pivot point analysis is a method of identifying key levels that the price can respond to. Pivots tend to act as support or resistance and can be turning points. This method is commonly used by day traders, although the concepts are valid in different time frames.

This indicator was designed to smooth out market noise and show market trends more clearly. The goals are achieved in the same way as in the case of the Simple moving average indicator. The only difference is the original price used to calculate the two indicators: Simple moving average uses any price from the list of data sources (mainly the closing price), while PPMA uses Pivot point values ​​that are calculated for each period. # Regression line

Linear regression is a statistical tool used to predict future values ​​based on past values. In the case of security prices, it is commonly used to determine when prices are overextended.

The Linear regression trendline uses least squares to plot a straight line through prices to minimize the distance between the prices and resulting trendline.

The Linear regression line, used to determine the direction of the trend, runs through a set of prices so that there is the smallest distance between all price points and the regression line. Instead of a price chart with scattered price points, the Linear regression line allows to clearly see if prices are moving up, down, or sideways.

Prices tend to move above and below the Linear regression line. As a result, when prices are below the line, analysts usually predict that prices will rise, and when they are above the line, prices are predicted to return toward the Linear regression line.

## Calculation

The Linear regression indicator is calculated by fitting a linear regression line to the values for a given period and then determining the current value for that line. The Linear regression line is a straight line that is closest to all of the target values.

The Regression line indicator is actually tomorrow's price prediction plotted today. If prices are consistently above or below the forecast price, expect them to quickly return to more realistic levels. In other words, the Regression line indicator shows where prices 'should' trade on a statistical basis, and any excessive deviation from the Regression line is likely to be short-lived. # SMA (Simple moving average)

The Moving average technical indicator shows the average value of the instrument price over a certain period of time. When calculating the Moving average, the instrument price is averaged over this period of time. When the price changes, its Moving average either increases or decreases. When the instrument price rises above the Moving average value, a buy signal appears; if it falls below the indicator line, a sell signal appears.

The SMA (Simple moving average) is calculated as follows: the closing prices of a currency taken over a certain period of time are summed up and divided by the number of these periods. Typically SMA is the average price over a period.

Volatility in the Forex market is much more smoothed over long periods of time due to the equal weight given to the daily SMA price. The long-term averages can be seen out of the long-term trends as far as any minor fluctuations are smoothed out. Short-term averages are used to find short-term trends, but they still provide long-term expenses.

Prices are mostly located close to the Moving average, but still aside from it. The Moving average changes following a trend change, which provides additional data on the trend strength based on the slope steepness.

## Calculation

The Simple moving average is an arithmetic moving average that is calculated by summing the closing prices of an instrument over a specified number of distinct periods (for example, 12 hours). This value is then divided by the number of such periods.

SMA = SUM (CLOSE (i), N) / N

N — number of calculation periods.

# SMMA (Smoothed moving average)

The Smoothed moving average is a kind of mix of a Simple moving average and an Exponential moving average, but with a longer period (about half the EMA period: for example, a 20-period SMMA is almost equal to a 40-period EMA).

This moving average is used to monitor price changes. The effect of the moving average is to smooth out the price movement so that the long-term trend becomes less volatile and therefore more obvious. When the price rises above the moving average, it indicates that investors are becoming bullish on the commodity. When prices fall lower, it indicates a bearish commodity. In addition, when the moving average crosses the longer-term moving average, research indicates a downward reversal of the market. When the short-term moving average crosses the longer-term moving average, it indicates an upswing in the market. The longer the period of the moving average, the smoother the price movement. Longer moving averages are used to highlight long-term trends.

## Calculation

The first value of the Smoothed moving average is calculated as the simple moving average (SMA):

The second moving average is calculated according to this formula:

# AC (Acceleration oscillator)

Acceleration oscillator is one of the most popular indicators developed by renowned technical analyst Bill Williams. Williams argued that the direction of momentum will always change ahead of price, so looking at momentum rather than price gives you a timing advantage. The acceleration indicator 'plays ahead' and helps to detect early changes - impulse acceleration or deceleration.

Williams stated that the impulse direction will change before the trend reversal, and the impulse acceleration can be observed just before that. The Acceleration oscillator (also known as the acceleration/deceleration indicator) is an indicator that Bill Williams developed to provide early signals of changes in market power.

The Acceleration oscillator is considered a forward-looking indicator since before the reversal, the price must reduce the speed of movement in the current direction, which means that you need to have data on price acceleration (positive or negative). When the dynamics slow down, the indicator's histogram should unfold first, and grow when the current dynamics accelerate.

Acceleration oscillator is able to quite accurately predict the phases of price dynamics in advance, which is valuable for traders - its advantage lies in leading indications.

In the case when the AC indicator is below zero, the presence of three successively growing green bars can serve as a signal to buy. The same is true for sales.

## Main parameters

# AO (Awesome oscillator)

The Awesome oscillator (AO) – as it is named in one of the books by Bill Williams - is absolutely analogous to the MACD indicator. Like the MACD, it is a classic oscillator and gives the same reversal signals for the current movement. The only innovation that Bill Williams introduced into this indicator is that it is plotted not by closing prices, like the classic MACD, but by median prices.

When calculating the value of AO at a specific time interval, the parameter of the 34-period MA is subtracted from the 5-period moving average indicator. If the fast moving average is above the slow one, the AO value will be positive and the oscillator plots bars above the zero mark. The stronger the trend, and the more the moving average diverge, the longer the bars are drawn up (with an uptrend) or down (with a downtrend).

Unlike the MACD, Awesome oscillator does not have an additional moving average, and all indicator signals are based on the behavior of the histogram, the position of the bars relative to each other, and their crossing of the zero line.

Indicator signals to watch out for:

* Zero line cross – When the AO crosses above the zero line, short-term momentum now rises faster than long-term momentum. This can provide a bullish buying opportunity. When the AO crosses below the zero line, short-term momentum now falls faster than long-term momentum. This can provide an opportunity for a bearish sell;
* Twin peaks – this is a method that takes into account the differences between two peaks on the same side of the zero line. A bullish Twin peaks setup occurs when there are two peaks below the zero line. The second peak is higher than the first, followed by a green bar. A bearish Twin peaks setup occurs when there are two peaks above the zero line. The second peak is lower than the first, followed by a red bar;
* Saucer – this setup is looking for faster changes in momentum. The Saucer method looks for changes in three consecutive bars on the same side of the zero line. The bullish Saucer setup occurs when the AO is above the zero line. This entails two consecutive red bars (the second bar is below the first) followed by a green bar. The bearish Saucer setup occurs when the AO is below the zero line. This entails two consecutive green bar (the second bar is higher than the first) followed by a red bar.

# Aroon

The Aroon indicator was developed by Tushar Chande in 1995, it is an indicator system that determines whether a stock is trending or not and how strong is the trend. The Aroon indicators measure the number of periods during which the price has reached an x-day high or low. There are two separate indicators: Aroon-Up and Aroon-Down. Both lines fluctuate between 0 and 100. The lower the number for Aroon up, the weaker the uptrend, and the lower the number for Aroon down, the weaker the downtrend. When the rising Aroon line is above the falling Aroon line, an uptrend is indicated. When the down line is above the up line, a downtrend is indicated. High values ​​of the Aroon ascending line mean that the price is trading at new highs over a certain period of hindsight. High values ​​of the Aroon descending line mean that the price is trading at new lows for a certain period of hindsight. A value of 100 for an up line indicates a potential emerging uptrend, and a value of 100 for a down line indicates a potential developing downtrend.

In this sense, Aroon indicators are very different from typical momentum oscillators, which focus on price over time. Aroon is unique because it focuses on time over price. Chartists can use Aroon indicators to identify new trends, spot consolidations, define periods of correction, and forecast reversals.

## Calculation

The Aroon indicators are shown as a percentage and fluctuate between 0 and 100. Aroon-up is based on price highs while Aroon-down is based on price lows. These two indicators are plotted side-by-side for easy comparison.

Values above 70 indicate a strong trend in the same direction as Aroon (up or down).

# CCI (Commodity channel index)

The commodity channel index (CCI) is an oscillator originally introduced by Donald Lambert in 1980. Since its inception, the indicator has gained popularity and is now a very common tool for traders to identify cyclical trends not only in commodities but also in equities and currencies The CCI can be adjusted to the timeframe of the market being traded by changing the averaging period.

Commodity channel index technical Indicator (CCI) measures the deviation of a commodity's price from its average statistical price. High index values indicate that the price is unusually high compared to the average one, while low values indicate that the price is too low. Despite the name, the Commodity channel index can be applied for any financial instrument, not just commodities.

There are two basic techniques for using the Commodity channel index:

* Divergence detection: a divergence occurs when the price reaches a new maximum, and the Commodity channel index cannot rise above the previous highs. This classical divergence is usually followed by price correction;
* As an indicator of overbuying/overselling: the Commodity channel index usually fluctuates in the  ±100 range. Values above +100 indicate an overbought state (and the likelihood of a corrective decline), and values below -100 indicate an oversold condition (and a probability of a corrective increase).

CCI typically oscillates above and below the zero line. Normal oscillations will occur within the range of +100 and −100. Readings above +100 imply an overbought condition, while readings below −100 imply an oversold condition. As with other overbought/oversold indicators, this means that there is a greater likelihood that the price will correct to more representative levels.

## Calculation

To find the typical price, you need to add the HIGH, LOW, and CLOSE prices of each bar, and then divide the result by 3:

To calculate the n-period Simple moving average of typical prices:

# CMO (Chande momentum oscillator)

Chande momentum oscillator (CMO) is a modification of the Momentum indicator, the inventor of which is the trader Tushar Chande, who is also known as a fan of using complex non-standard formulas in technical analysis. CMO, unlike the classic Momentum, is less widespread and is not used by traders as often in practice. It appeared in 1994 and was first described in the book "The New Technical Trader".

The idea of ​​the indicator is as follows – price movement is considered for a given number of periods. For two adjacent candles, the difference between the current and previous closing prices is taken. If the difference is positive (price rises), it is added to the final positive change; if the difference is negative (price falls), it is added to the final negative change. The value of the indicator itself is calculated as a fraction multiplied by 100%, in the numerator of which is the difference between the final positive and final negative changes, and in the denominator their sum.

The CMO amplitude is limited to -100 and +100. The higher the oscillator rises, the more the asset is "overheated" and the higher the probability of a price rollback downward. Conversely, when the indicator drops too low, it means that the asset is undervalued and worth considering buying opportunities. When the zero line is crossed from bottom to top, a buy signal appears; when crossing from top to bottom, a sell signal appears. In this case, it is recommended to take into account only those intersections, before which the indicator line has moved from zero by at least 20-25 units since signals are often false with a small oscillation amplitude.

# KRI (Kairi relative index)

The Kairi relative index is a method of using technical analysis to select investment securities. Commonly used when trading foreign exchange, it is first compiled by taking a moving average, which is the average of prices over a certain period of time that rises and falls over time. This moving average is then compared to the current price, with the deviation between the two values being presented as a percentage of the moving average. Using this deviation allows investors to track the Kairi relative index, which originated in Japan, to decide whether to buy or sell the securities under study and when to make those transactions.

Investors often differ in the way that they select investment securities. Some investors choose to study fundamental issues, such as the financial strength of a stock issuer, which can affect the price of securities. Others are less concerned with fundamentals, focusing instead on security prices, especially how past prices might indicate future performance. These people are likely to choose the Kairi relative index to make their investment choices.

Like many other technical indicators, the Kairi relative index is effective at showing momentum, which can determine whether a price trend will continue or run out of steam. First, the moving average of the security is constructed. This is achieved by averaging prices over a period of time. Choosing a longer timeframe for the moving average results in a more accurate index, although a shorter average may be good for spotting short-term trends.

Once the moving average is collected, it is subtracted from the current price of the security. Then this number is divided by the moving average, and the resulting amount is multiplied by 100 to get a percentage. The resulting percentage is the Kairi relative index. When the index is high and positive, it indicates that the investor should sell; if it is high and negative, the investor should buy.

The Kairi relative index chart can also show the investor entry points, which are the exact points when the trend is about to start. This is done by using the center line, which in Kairi's case will always be zero. At the point where the index rises above the center line, it is time for an uptrend. If the index line falls below the top centerline, this should indicate the beginning of a downtrend for the security.

# MACD (Moving average/convergence divergence)

Moving average convergence-divergence (MACD) is one of the most popular momentum indicators used by traders. MACD takes 2 moving averages and turns them into a momentum oscillator by subtracting the longer period moving average from the shorter period moving average. What makes MACD unique among oscillators is that it can be used as a trend tracking tool or momentum indicator. The most common signals monitored by the traders are signal line crossings, center line crossings, and divergences. Since the MACD is an unbounded oscillator, it is not particularly useful for identifying overbought and oversold levels.

The MACD was invented by Gerald Appel in the 1970s, and in 1986, Thomas Aspray added a histogram to the MACD as a means of predicting MACD crossovers.

The MACD is considered a trend-following tool due to the use of moving averages. By subtracting the longer period moving average, the MACD converts from a lagging indicator to a momentum oscillator. MACD fluctuates above and below zero without any upper or lower boundaries.

## Calculation

The MACD is calculated by subtracting the 26-period exponential moving average value from the 12-period exponential moving average. A 9-period dotted simple moving average of the MACD (signal line) is then plotted on top of the MACD.

MACD = EMA (CLOSE, 12) – EMA (CLOSE, 26)

SIGNAL = SMA (MACD, 9)

Where:

* EMA — Exponential moving average;
* SMA — Simple moving average;
* SIGNAL — the signal line of the indicator.

## Main parameters

* FastEMA –number of periods for calculating the exponential moving average, 12 by default (classic value for this indicator);
* SlowEMA – number of periods for calculating the exponential moving average, 26 by default (classic value for this indicator);
* SignalSMA – number of periods for calculating the simple moving average, 9 by default (classic value for this indicator).

**Crossovers**

The basic rule of MACD trading is to sell when the MACD falls below the signal line. Likewise, a buy signal occurs when the Moving average convergence/divergence rises above the signal line. It is also popular to buy/sell when the MACD goes above/below zero.

**Divergence**

An indication that the end of the current trend may be near occurs when the MACD diverges from the symbol. A bullish divergence occurs when the Moving average convergence/divergence indicator reaches new highs while prices fail to reach them. A bearish divergence occurs when the MACD makes new lows while prices fail to reach new lows. Both of these divergences are most significant when they occur at relatively overbought/oversold levels.

# Momentum

Momentum measures the rate of change in the closing prices for a currency pair, stock, or commodity. It is often used to identify the weakness or inner strength of a pair. It is important to note that it signals where potential reversal points are or when trends are about to start. Traders are always on the lookout for changes in momentum as this allows them to better predict volatility in the currency exchange market. The trend is strongest when there is a high momentum reading up or down. The momentum indicator is usually displayed as a single line, on its own chart, separate from the price bars.

**Momentum Buy Signal**

The Momentum indicator crosses above the zero line. Crossing the zero line implies that the price of the stock, future, or currency pair is reversing course, either by bottoming out or breaking above recent highs, which is a bullish signal.

**Momentum Sell Signal**

The Momentum indicator crosses below the zero line. Crossing the zero line can generally mean two things: a futures, currency pair, or stock price has peaked and reversed, or that the price has broken below recent lows, either way, a bearish signal.

**Momentum Exit Signals**

Generally speaking, the buy and sell signals discussed above are poor exits, whether selling long or buying to cover a short position. By the time the Momentum indicator returns back to the zero line, most or all of the profits are likely to have disappeared, or worse, the trader has allowed a winning position to turn into a losing one.

When the Momentum is reversing course and is heading back towards the zero line, it means that profits have been eroded. How much of a retracement back towards the zero line before the exit is triggered is up to the trader. Another option is to draw a trend line. When the trend line is broken, that could be an exit signal. Like most technical analysis indicators, interpreting them is part science and part art form.

The Momentum indicator compares the current price with the past price. How far in the past the comparison is made is up to the technical analysis trader. The calculation of Momentum is pretty simple:

# PO (Price oscillator)

The Price oscillator uses two moving averages, one shorter-period, and one longer-period, and then calculates the difference between them. The Price oscillator technical indicator can be used to determine overbought and oversold conditions as well as to confirm bullish or bearish price moves. It is basically a MACD, but the Price Oscillator can use any time periods.

There are many trading methods for Price oscillator. Since the indicator is a trend following system, most traders follow a very simple buy rule when the shorter average crosses above the longer average, and vice versa, when the shorter average crosses below the longer average, a sell signal is triggered. Another method is to weaken the signals and go in the opposite direction. This generally works best in volatile markets as moving averages are not allowed to trend due to the bounded market range.

When the 9-day moving average crossed the 18-day moving average, the price oscillator crossed the zero line. When the short-term moving average crosses the long-term moving average, a bullish crossover occurs. Bullish crossovers are generally considered a good time to buy.

Likewise, when the 9-day moving average crossed below the 18-day moving average, the price oscillator crossed below the zero line. When the short-term moving average passes below the long-term moving average, a bearish crossover occurs. Usually, bearish crossovers are considered to be a good time for selling.

The Price oscillator displays the difference between moving averages in points, plotted on the basis of two periods:

# PPO (Percentage price oscillator)

The Percentage price oscillator (PPO) measures momentum. As with many technical analysis indicators, it is based on a moving average, which is used to show how price trends change over time.

A moving average takes previous closing price data over a period of time and averages that information to show a trend. The PPO is based on an Exponential moving average (EMA), which means that the latest price data has more weight.

A long EMA will provide more gradual moves as more price data is captured within it. The shorter EMA will move faster and converge to intraday price movement as the period shortens. Any EMA should be of the appropriate length to capture the current trend and eliminate random noise.

PPO and MACD are momentum indicators that measure the difference between 26-period and 12-period exponential moving averages. The main difference between these indicators is that the MACD reports the absolute difference between the EMAs, while the PPO expresses this difference as a percentage. This allows the trader to use the PPO indicator to easily compare assets with different prices.

When the PPO is above zero, it helps to confirm the uptrend as the short-term EMA is above the long-term EMA. When the PPO is below zero, the short-term EMA is below the long-term EMA, indicating a downtrend. Some traders prefer to accept buy signals only when the PPO is above zero or when the price shows a generally upward trajectory. Likewise, when the PPO is below zero, they can ignore buy signals and/or only accept short sell signals.

Crossing the center line also generates trading signals. Traders view a move from below to above the center line as bullish and a move from above to below the center line as bearish. PPO crosses the center line at the intersection of the 12-period and 26-period moving averages.

# QStick

The QStick indicator is a technical analysis indicator developed by Tushar Chande as the candle quantifier. It is calculated by taking a moving average with an 'n' period of the difference between the opening and closing prices. A QStick value greater than zero means that most of the last 'n' days have been up, indicating that buying pressure is increasing. When the QStick indicator is less than zero selling pressure has been increasing. Thus, this indicator provides an approximation of the exponential moving average (or EMA) of the security, the opening price, the closing price, and their difference, as well as these values ​​of the simple moving averages (or SMA).

QStick, like many other technical indicators, provides a range of trading signals based on readings and divergences. Following are the three basic rules for trading with QStick:

1. Crossovers: the QStick oscillates above and below the zero line. The most basic trading principle is to buy a security on a cross up over the zero line and to sell the security on a cross down through the zero line. This technique will work well in sideways markets as the security is more likely to adhere to support and resistance levels.
2. Extreme Levels: the QStick also provides extreme readings that can often indicate market tops and bottoms. The QStick value has no upper or lower limit, so traders will have to look at previous tops and bottoms in the indicator when they run counter to impulsive moves.
3. Divergence: the last trading rule for the QStick indicator is to look for divergences between the price of the security and the indicator. Traders will want to buy the security if the QStick increases and the price decreases. Conversely, traders will want to sell when the QStick falls and the price rises.

## Calculation

The QStick simply plots an n-period moving average that shows the difference between the close and open prices:

QStick can provide many informative trading signals. Extremely low QStick values together with a reversal tendency give a buy signal. Finding QStick at the top and starting reduction is a sell signal. In case the figures of QStick differ much from prices, it is a sign to follow the QStick direction to forecast price trend.

# RLW (%R Larry Williams)

Renowned author and commodity trader Larry Williams developed a trading formula called the %R to indicate overbought and oversold levels. In his original work, the method examined ten trading days to determine the trading range. After identifying a ten-day trading range, he figured out where today's close price falls within that range.

The system attempts to measure overbought and oversold market conditions. %R is always in the range of 100 and 0. Trading rules are simple. You sell when %R reaches 10% or lower and buy when it reaches 90% or higher.

These values are reversed from normal thinking, especially if you are using RSI as a trading tool. %R works best in trending markets, either bullish or bearish. Likewise, there is often a discrepancy between %R and the market. It is just another hint of the market's condition.

The number of periods used to calculate %R according to Williams may vary depending on the timeframe you are trading. A rule of thumb is that the indicator window should be half the cycle length (14 days are often used for the intermediate cycle).

Overbought and Oversold levels are normally set at -20 and -80.

## Calculation

The indicator is very similar to Stochastic %K, except that Williams %R is plotted using negative values ranging from -20 to -80.

Below is the formula for calculating the %R indicator, which is very similar to the Stochastic oscillator:

* Close — today’s closing price;
* High(i-n) — highest high over a number (n) of previous periods;

# ROC (Rate of change)

The Rate of change (ROC) indicator, which is also referred to as simply Momentum, is a momentum oscillator in its purest form. This indicator measures the percent change in price from one period to the next. The ROC calculation compares the current price with the price "n" periods ago. The plot forms an oscillator that fluctuates above and below the zero line as the Rate-of-Change moves from positive to negative. As a momentum oscillator, ROC signals include centerline crossovers, divergences, and overbought-oversold readings.

ROC is also used as an overbought/oversold indicator.

Overbought – the higher the ROC indicator reading, the more overbought a currency pair is. Indicator values above the overbought level imply that a currency is overbought and there is a pending price correction

Oversold – the lower the ROC indicator reading, the more oversold a currency pair is. Indicator values below the oversold level imply that a currency is overbought and there is a pending price rally.

However, during strong trending markets, the price will remain at Overbought/Oversold levels for a long time, and rather than the price reversing the price trend will continue for a while. It is therefore best to use the crossover signals as official buy and sell signals.

Bullish Signal - buy signal is generated when the ROC crosses above the zero center line

Bearish Signal - sell signal is generated when the ROC Indicator crosses below the zero center line.

ROC is the percentage change between the current price with respect to an earlier closing price 'n' periods ago:

# RSI (Relative strength index)

The Relative strength index (RSI), developed by J. Wells Wilder in 1978, is an impulse oscillator that measures the speed and change in price movements. Step-by-step instructions on calculating and interpreting the RSI are also provided in Mr. Wilder's book 'New Concepts in Technical Trading Systems'. The RSI fluctuates between zero and 100. Traditionally, the RSI is considered overbought when it is above 70 and oversold when it is below 30. Signals can be generated by looking for divergences and bad swings. RSI can also be used to determine the overall trend.

When Wilder introduced the Relative strength index, he recommended using a 14-period RSI. Since then, the 9- and 25-period Relative strength index indicators have also gained popularity. A popular method of analyzing RSI is looking for a divergence in which the security makes a new high, but the RSI cannot surpass its previous high. This divergence is an indication of an impending reversal. When the Relative strength index then turns down and falls below its most recent trough, it is said to have completed a "failure swing". The failure swing is considered a confirmation of the impending reversal.

The following signals of Relative strength index are used in chart analysis:

**Tops and Bottoms**

The Relative strength index usually tops above 70 and bottoms below 30. It forms these tops and bottoms before the underlying price chart.

**Chart Formations**

RSI often forms chart patterns such as head and shoulders or triangles, which may or may not be visible on the price chart.

**Failure Swing (Support or Resistance breakout)**

This is where the Relative strength index exceeds the previous high (peak) or falls below the recent low (trough).

**Support and Resistance levels**

The Relative strength index shows, sometimes more clearly than the price itself, levels of support and resistance.

**Divergences**

As discussed above, divergences occur when price makes a new high (or low) that is not confirmed by a new high (or low) in the Relative strength index. Prices are usually correcting and moving in the direction of the RSI.

The basic formula for calculating the Relative strength index is as follows:

RSI = 100 - (100 / (1 + U / D))

Where:

U — average number of positive price changes;

D — average number of negative price changes.

# Stochastic (Stochastic slow)

Developed by George C. Lane in the late 1950s, the Stochastic oscillator is a momentum indicator that shows the location of the close relative to the high-low range over a set number of periods. The indicator can range from 0 to 100.

The closing price tends to close near the high in an uptrend and near the low in a downtrend. If the closing price then slips away from the high or the low, then momentum is slowing. Stochastics are most effective in broad trading ranges or slow-moving trends. Two lines are graphed, the slow oscillating %K and a moving average of %K commonly referred to as %D.

The difference between the Slow and Fast stochastic oscillators is the Slow %K incorporates a %K slowing period of 3 that controls the internal smoothing of %K. Setting the smoothing period to 1 is equivalent to plotting the Fast stochastic oscillator.

## Calculation

**Stochastic oscillator**

The Stochastic oscillator has four variables:

1. %K periods. The number of time periods used in the stochastic calculation;
2. %K slowing periods. This value controls the internal smoothing of %K. A value of 1 is considered a fast stochastic; a value of 3 is considered a slow stochastic;
3. %D periods. This is the number of time periods used when calculating a moving average of %K;
4. %D method. The method (i.e., Exponential, Simple, Smoothed, or Weighted) that is used to calculate %D.

Stochastic is calculated by the following formulas:

%K = (Close – Low (%K)) / (High(%K) – Low(%K)) \* 100, where

* Close — today’s closing price;
* Low (%K) — lowest low in %K periods;
* High (%K) — highest high in %K periods.

The %D moving average is calculated using the formula:

%D = SMA (%K, N), where

* N — smoothing period;
* SMA — Simple moving average.

Once the %K line climbs into the 80 and above the region of the Stochastic scale, analysts consider this to be an overbought condition. This could lead to a sell-off forcing the price downwards.

When the %K line falls below 20 on the Stochastic scale, the market may now consider the currency pair to be oversold. As a result, traders may start buying thereby lifting the price higher as the market scoops up a "bargain".

**Slow stochastic oscillator**

* Slow %K = Fast %K smoothed with 3-period SMA
* Slow %D = 3-period SMA of Slow %K

The data for the SMA calculating are the values of the stochastic oscillator, calculated using the formula above in this article.

The Slow stochastic applies further smoothing to the Stochastic oscillator in order to reduce volatility and improve signal accuracy. Trading signals are the same as for the Stochastic oscillator.

Signals are listed in order of their importance:

1. Go long on bullish divergence (on %D) where the first trough is below the Oversold level;
2. Go long when %K or %D falls below the Oversold level and rises back above it;
3. Go long when %K crosses above %D.

Short signals:

1. Go short on bearish divergence (on %D) where the first peak is above the Overbought level;
2. Go short when %K or %D rises above the Overbought level then falls back below it;
3. Go short when %K crosses below %D.

# Stochastic RSI

The Stochastic RSI (Stoch RSI) indicator was developed by Tushard Chande and Stanley Kroll. They introduced this indicator in their 1994 book 'The New Technical Trader'. The Stochastic RSI indicator was designed to increase the sensitivity and reliability of the common RSI indicator, which provides trading signals by displaying the overbought/oversold state. Tushard Chande and Stanley Kroll explain that the common RSI indicator trades between 20 and 80 levels quite often for long periods without ever reaching the oversold/overbought area that gives many traders good trading opportunities. Therefore, they decided to combine the RSI with the Stochastic indicator and got a new one that provides better and more distinctive trading signals.

Trading using oversold/overbought levels of the Stochastic RSI indicator:

When StochRSI leaves the oversold zone (below 20) to a higher level, it is a buy signal;

When StochRSI goes out of the overbought zone (above 80) to a lower level, it is a signal to sell.

Please note that unlike the RSI, where the 30 and 70 levels were used as oversold/overbought zones, here the levels 20 and 80 are used, just like for the Stochastic indicator.

## Main parameters

* RSI period – time period to be used in calculating the RSI;
* RSI mode – method of calculating the RS parameter, Simple or Exponential;
* RSI source – Determines what data from each bar will be used in calculations. Close is the default;
* Stochastic period – time period to be used in calculating the Stochastic;

* %D – percent of deviation between price and the average of previous prices (Momentum). The time period to be used in calculating the %D. 3 is the default value;

# TSI (True strength index)

The True strength index (TSI) is a momentum-based indicator, developed by William Blau and introduced in Stocks & Commodities Magazine. The TSI is suitable for intraday time frames as well as long term trading and helps to define the trend, oversold/overbought conditions, centerline crossovers, bullish/bearish divergences, and signal line crossovers.

The True strength index is a version of the Relative strength indicator. It uses a double smoothed EMA of price momentum to diminish constant price changes and pay attention to spot trend shifts with little or zero lag. An increasing True strength value demonstrates increasing momentum in the direction of the price movement.

The indicator is primarily used to identify overbought and oversold conditions in an asset's price, spot divergence, identify trend direction and changes via the centerline, and highlight short-term price momentum with signal line crossovers.

Long Term is the First Period and Short Term is the Second Period used in the double exponential smoothing of momentum.

While the TSI output is bound between +100 and −100, most values fall between +25 and −25. Blau suggests interpreting these values as overbought and oversold levels, respectively, at which point a trader may anticipate a market turn. Trend direction is indicated by the TSI slope; a rising TSI suggests an up-trend in the market, and a falling TSI suggests a down-trend.

## Calculation

The TSI is a "double smoothed" indicator; meaning that a moving average applied to the data (daily momentum in this case) is smoothed again by a second moving average. The calculation for TSI uses exponential moving averages. The formula for the TSI is:

# ADX (Average directional movement index)

The average directional movement index (ADX) was developed in 1978 by J. Welles Wilder as an indicator of trend strength in a series of financial instrument prices. ADX has become a widely used indicator for technical analysts and is provided as a standard in collections of indicators offered by various trading platforms.

The simplest trading method based on the system of directional movement implies a comparison of two direction indicators: the 14-period +DI and the 14-period -DI. To do this, one either puts the charts of indicators one on top of the other, or +DI is subtracted from -DI. Wilder recommends buying when +DI is higher than -DI and selling when +DI sinks lower than -DI.

To these simple commercial rules, Wilder added "a rule of points of extremum". It is used to eliminate false signals and decrease the number of deals. According to the principle of points of extremum, the "point of extremum" is the point when +DI and -DI cross each other. If +DI raises higher than -DI, this point will be the maximum price of the day when they cross. If +DI is lower than -DI, this point will be the minimum price of the day they cross.

The point of extremum is used as a market entry level. Thus, after a buy signal (+DI is higher than -DI) one must wait till the price has exceeded the point of extremum and only then buy. However, if the price fails to exceed the level of the point of extremum, one should retain the short position.

The Average directional index (ADX), Minus directional indicator (-DI), and Plus directional indicator (+DI) represent a group of directional movement indicators that form a trading system developed by Welles Wilder. Wilder designed ADX with commodities and daily prices in mind, but these indicators can also be applied to stocks. The Average Directional Index (ADX) measures trend strength without regard to trend direction. The other two indicators, Plus directional indicator (+DI) and Minus directional indicator (-DI), complement ADX by defining trend direction. Used together, chartists can determine both the *direction* and *strength* of the trend.

* Wilder suggests that a strong trend is present when ADX is above 25 and no trend is present when below 20;
* When the ADX turns down from high values, then the trend may be ending. You may want to do additional research to determine if closing open positions is appropriate for you;
* If the ADX is declining, it could be an indication that the market is becoming less directional, and the current trend is weakening. You may want to avoid trading trend systems as the trend changes;
* If after staying low for a lengthy time, the ADX rises by 4 or 5 units, (for example, from 15 to 20), it may be giving a signal to trade the current trend;
* If the ADX is rising then the market is showing a strengthening trend. The value of the ADX is proportional to the slope of the trend. The slope of the ADX line is proportional to the acceleration of the price movement (changing trend slope). If the trend is a constant slope then the ADX value tends to flatten out.

It is interesting that ADX, being a trend indicator, is plotted not on the chart, but in a separate window. Because of this, some traders consider it an oscillator, but formally it is a trend detection indicator.

ADX = SUM ((+DI - (-DI)) / (+DI + (-DI)), N) / N

Where:

N — the number of periods used in the calculation;

SUM (..., N) — sum for N periods;

+DI — value of the positive price movement indicator (positive directional index);

-DI — value of the negative price movement indicator (negative directional index).

# Alligator

The Alligator Indicator was initially developed by psychologist and technical trader Bill Williams, one of the earliest pioneers of market psychology. The trend-following indicator Alligator, which is based on the assumption that financial markets and individual stocks only trend 15% to 30% of the time, while moving sideways ranges from the other 70% to 85% of the time. Williams believed that individuals and organizations tend to make most of their profits during periods of a strong trend.

The Alligator Indicator finds its most common usage in identifying trending and ranging markets. In terms of its interpretation, an analogy to an alligator is often used, thereby giving it its name. The indicator itself consists of three lines, typically colored Blue, Red, and Green, which are usually named as follows:

1. The blue line (Alligator's jaw) is the Balance Line for the timeframe that was used to draw the chart (13-period Smoothed Moving Average, moved into the future by 8 bars);
2. Red Line (Alligator's teeth) is the Balance Line for the timeframe value one level below (8-period Smoothed Moving Average, moved by 5 bars into the future);
3. Green Line (Alligator's lips) is the Balance Line for the timeframe value one more level lower (5-period Smoothed Moving Average, moved by 3 bars into the future).

The aims of this indicator are as follows:

* Make the indicator convenient for trading only in the current deal;
* Develop a reliable way to save money when the market bounded by the price channel moves;
* Provide a unified way to monitor market movements.

When traders use the Alligator indicator to identify trending and ranging markets, an alligator analogy is commonly employed for illustration purposes. Basically, when all of the mythological alligator’s parts or Balance Lines converge and are plotted close to one another, that means the alligator is sleeping or nearly asleep and his mouth is closed. This signals that a ranging market prevails.

However, the more the creature sleeps, the hungrier it gets, and the first thing it does upon waking is yawning. Then it smells a bull or a bear and starts to hunt its prey as the indicator’s Balance Lines begin to separate and his mouth opens.

An uptrend is indicated if the price trades above the alligator’s mouth, which consists of its jaw, teeth, and lips - the blue, red, and green lines respectively. These lines also need to be aligned with an upward slope so that the green is on top of the red on top of the blue, all of which is below the price.

Conversely, a downtrend is indicated when the price trades below the alligator’s mouth. In this case, the lines should also be aligned, but with a downward direction, with the blue line above the red, which is above the green, and all come in over the price.

* SMMA (A, B, C) — Smoothed Moving Average. A parameter is for data to be smoothed, B is the smoothing period, C is a shift to the future. For example, SMMA (MEDIAN PRICE, 5, 3) means that the smoothed moving average will be calculated on the median price, smoothing period being equal to 5 bars and shift being 3.

# DMI (Directional movement index)

The Directional Movement Index (also known as DMI) is a momentum indicator that was developed by J. Welles Wilder in 1978. It is calculated using price, the indicator compares the current price with the previous price range and displays the result as an upward movement line (+DI), and a downward movement line (-DI) between 0 and 100. DMI is displayed on its own chart separate from the price bars.

DMI will tell you when to be long or short. This is especially useful for trend trading strategies because it differentiates between strong and weak trends, allowing the trader to enter only the strongest trends. DMI works on all timeframes and can be applied to any underlying instrument (stocks, mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, futures, commodities, and currencies).

The Directional Movement Index can be used in both ranging and trending markets. In general, when the +DI line is above the -DI line, the market is moving upwards, and when the -DI line is above the +DI line, the market is moving downwards.

## Calculation

The first two auxiliary indicators, +DM and -DM, need to be calculated. On "outside days", the difference between today’s and yesterday’s high corresponds to the auxiliary indicator +DM, and the difference between today's and yesterday's low corresponds to the auxiliary indicator -DM. "inside days" should not be considered for the calculation, therefore zero values are assigned for +DM and -DM on these days.

The so-called "True Range" (TR) is now calculated. It is always positive and defines, the following differences as a maximum:

* Day High Today minus Day Low Today,
* Day High Today minus Close Yesterday, or
* Day Low Today minus Close Yesterday.

The + DI upward direction indicator is now calculated by dividing + DM by the True Range. For smoothing purposes, it is usual to add the +DM values for the last fourteen days and divide this by the sum of the TRs for the last fourteen days. The result corresponds to +DI for fourteen days.\
The calculation of -DI is performed analogously. To calculate the DMI, the difference between +DI and -DI is divided by their sum and the result is multiplied by 100.

+DI = +DM/TR and –DI = - DM/TR

DMI = (+ DI – (- DI)) / (+ DI + (- DI)) \* 100, where

TR is the True Range described above.

# ICH (Ichimoku)

The Ichimoku Kinko Hyo Japanese charting technique was developed before World War II by a Japanese newspaper writer with the pen name of Ichimoku Sanjin. The word Ichimoku can be translated as "a glance" or "one look". Kinko translates into "equilibrium" or "balance", and Hyo is the Japanese word for "chart". Thus, Ichimoku Kinko Hyo simply means, "a glance at an equilibrium chart". Ichimoku charts attempt to identify the probable direction of the price and help the trader to determine the most suitable times to enter and/or exit the market.

The Ichimoku Kinko Hyo, or equilibrium chart, isolates higher probability trades in the foreign exchange market. It is new to the mainstream but is growing in popularity among beginners and experienced traders. Known for its applications to futures and stocks, Ichimoku exhibits more data points that provide more reliable price action. It combines three indicators into one chart, allowing the trader to make the most informed decisions.

The main terms of this technique are:

**Kijun-Sen** demonstrates the average value of the price for the second period of time. Kijun-Sen is a fluctuations' parameter in the Forex market. The price can grow if it is higher than the Kijun-Sen. When the price crosses this line, movements in the trend are predicted. Another variant of the Kijun-Sen usage is the submission of the signals. Kijun Sen resembles the Tenkan Sen but consists of more than 26 periods.

**Tenkan-Sen** demonstrates the average value of the price for the first period of time; defined as the sum of a maximum and the minimum for this time frame, divided by two. The buy signal is provided when the line Tenkan-Sen intersects Kijun-Sen bottom-up and a sell signal is generated when the Tenkan-Sen crosses Kijun-Sen top-down. Tenkan-Sen is used as the indicator of a Forex trend. The trend exists if this line grows or falls. When it moves horizontally, the Forex market has come into the channel. Tenkan Sen is an average of the highest high and lowest low over 9 periods. There is a signal for selling when the Tenkan-Sen line crosses Kijun-Sen from the bottom-up, the buy signal is provided if it moves from top to down.

Tenkan-Sen is used as the indicator of a market trend. If this line grows or falls - the trend exists. When it goes horizontally - the market has entered the channel.

**Senkou Span** is a shaded region between the 2 Senkou lines.

**Senkou Span A** demonstrates the middle between the previous 2 lines, moved forward on the value of the second time frame. **Senkou Span B** demonstrates the average value of the price for the third time frame, moved forward on the value of the second time frame. The area between them depicts the trend, which is also used as the price of the support and resistance. This leads the actual time by 26 periods.

## Calculation

1\) Tenkan-Sen = Conversion Line = (Highest High + Lowest Low) / 2, for the past 9 periods;

2\) Kijun-Sen = Base Line = (Highest High + Lowest Low) / 2, for the past 26 periods;

3\) Chikou Span = Lagging Span = Today's closing price plotted 26 periods behind;

4\) Senkou Span A = Leading Span A = (Tenkan-Sen + Kijun-Sen) / 2, plotted 26 periods ahead;

5\) Senkou Span B = Leading Span B = (Highest High + Lowest Low) / 2, for the past 52 periods, plotted 26 periods ahead.

The Kumo (or clouds) is the area between Senkou Span A and Senkou Span B.

# Pivot point

The Pivot point is a technical analysis or calculation indicator used to determine the general trend of the market over different time periods. The Pivot point itself is simply the average of the high, low, and close of the previous trading day. The next day, trading above the pivot point is considered to indicate continued bullish sentiment, while trading below the pivot point indicates the bearish sentiment.

The Pivot point is the basis of the indicator, but it also includes other support and resistance levels that are projected based on the pivot point calculation. All of these levels help traders see where the price may be experiencing support or resistance. Likewise, if the price moves through these levels, it gives the trader an indication that the price is moving in that direction.

This indicator is used to plot the lines of support and resistance, calculated on higher timeframes (H1 – W). The lines are plotted according to the principle "from the past to the future", for example, the user wants to plot Pivot lines for the last day in order to use it for trading on the current day (week, month, etc.).

This indicator is a multi-level tool, due to that, the trader can choose the most suitable option based on his/her own preferences and trading timeframe. This tool stands out for its simple settings and accurate information displaying.

Support and resistance levels data obtained with the help of the indicator allows predicting possible levels of Stop Loss and Take Profit with high precision.

# SAR (Parabolic time/price system)

The Parabolic Time/Price system, developed by Welles Wilder, is used to set trailing price stops and is usually referred to as the "SAR" (stop-and-reversal). This indicator is explained thoroughly in Wilder's book, 'New Concepts in Technical Trading Systems'. SAR trails price as the trend extends over time. The indicator is below prices when prices are rising and above prices when prices are falling. In this regard, the indicator stops and reverses when the price trend reverses and breaks above or below the indicator.

**Trading signals:**

Your first step is to confirm that the market is trending:

* Use a trend indicator, or
* Stop trading with the Parabolic SAR if you are whipsawed twice in a row and re-commence after you observe a breakout from the chart pattern.

A trade is signaled, when the price bars and stop levels intersect:

* Go long when price meets the Parabolic SAR stop level, while short;
* Go short when price meets the Parabolic SAR stop level, while long.

## Calculation

Parabolic SAR uses values of the previous period to come up with the new calculation. The calculation also differs regarding whether SAR is rising or falling.

### Rising Parabolic SAR <a href="#rising-parabolic-sar" id="rising-parabolic-sar"></a>

In general, we have three elements – the prior SAR, and two indicator-specific values known as the extreme point (EP) and acceleration factor (AF).

Prior SAR is simply the SAR value of the previous period.

Extreme point (EP) is the highest high of the prevailing uptrend.

Acceleration factor (AF), under the indicator’s default settings, starts at .02 and increases by .02 whenever the extreme point (EP) makes a new high. Its maximum value is .20 regardless of how many new highs are made by the extreme point.

The acceleration factor value – both the rate at which it can increase and its maximum value – can be adjusted in the settings.

In the SAR calculation formula, the current SAR value is calculated by taking the prior SAR and adding it to the product of the prior acceleration factor and difference between prior extreme point and prior SAR:

Current SAR = Prior SAR + Prior AF \* (Prior EP – Prior SAR)

### Falling Parabolic SAR <a href="#falling-parabolic-sar" id="falling-parabolic-sar"></a>

The three elements stay the same – we use prior SAR, extreme point (EP), and acceleration factor (AR).

They are combined into the SAR formula very similarly, just that instead of adding the second part of the formula, it is subtracted instead.

Current SAR = Prior SAR – Prior AF \* (Prior EP – Prior SAR)

## Main parameters

* Step of parabolic SAR system i.e. the acceleration factor, 0.02 by default;
* Maximum step i.e. the extreme point, 0.2 by default.

# SI (Swing index)

The Swing Index was developed by Welles Wilder to assess the direction of a price change and its strength in relation to price swings. The Swing Index uses data from the last two bars in order to determine a possible trend change over a longer period of time. Specifically, Swing Index helps identify moments when investors change their trading behavior - moments when price changes (previously aligned with price swings) begin to move in the opposite direction of swings when a previously strong and consistent group of investors (Bulls or Bears) becomes weaker and short-lived only. Since the Swing Index uses data from only two bars to determine the possible development of a longer trend, it mainly attracts short-term intraday traders who are most interested in short-term price fluctuations.

According to the Technical Analysis theory:

* a buy signal can be considered when the Swing Index crosses over zero value - the trader can expect a short-term upward price movement - the price is not growing yet, but we have an upward swing;
* a sell signal can be viewed when the Swing Index falls below zero - the trader can expect a short-term downward price movement - the price has not yet moved down, but we are starting to have a downward swing.

## Calculation

The basic formula for the Swing Index is:

Swing Index = 50 \* \[ { Cy - C + 0.5(Cy - Oy) + 0.25(C - O) } / R ] \* (K / T)

Where:

C = Today's closing price

L = Today's lowest price

O = Today's opening price

Cy = Yesterday's closing price

Ly = Yesterday's lowest price

Oy = Yesterday's opening price

Hy = Yesterday's highest price

K = the larger of either (Hy - C) or (Ly - C)

R = A variable based on the relationship between today's closing price and yesterday's high and low

To calculate R, determine the largest of:

1. Hу - C

# ZZ (ZigZag)

The ZigZag indicator is a technical analysis tool that can be used to identify classic chart patterns in trading. It is designed to highlight important trends and confirm possible price reversals. It removes price noise that is irrelevant to the trader's analysis. The late investor John Templeton once said that "the time of maximum pessimism is the best time to buy, and the time of maximum optimism is the best time to sell." This is a simple concept of the ZigZag indicator.

It aims to help traders stay in a winning position and avoid the urge to close positions due to minor reactions that are common in the market. It shows where trends can change. And it is the starting point for deciding to place stops on momentum-based trades, allowing traders to take profits when a trend is strengthening.

The ZigZag indicator is similar to a moving average in that they both signal a trend change when the indicator changes direction, such as when the aggregate price rise becomes a price fall. However, the ZigZag indicator highlights peaks and troughs as they occur, while the moving average is slow to respond to price changes that can cause a delay.

Using the ZigZag trading strategy is also useful when a trader wants to look at a trend over a longer period of time. This can be done by changing the resolution or scale, making the overall market path more visible. It is important to remember that the ZigZag indicator has no predictive power as it draws lines based on hindsight.

The ZigZag is based on the chart type. Line and dot charts, which are based on the close, will show the ZigZag based on closing prices. High-Low-Close bars (HLC), Open-High-Low-Close (OHLC) bars, and candlesticks, which show the period's high-low range, will show the ZigZag based on this high-low range. A ZigZag based on the high-low range is more likely to change course than a ZigZag based on the close because the high-low range will be much larger and produce bigger swings.

# YHL (Yesterday's high low)

Yesterday's high low is an indicator that plots the high and low on the chart. In day trading, the previous day's high and low are important reference points or support-resistance levels. In a bull market, the price breaks above the previous day's high at the start of the day and continues to trade above that level. In bear markets, price breaks below the previous day's low at the start of the day and continues to trade below that level. Trading ranges are formed when the price fails to successfully break the previous day's high or low. By itself, this information can improve your trading results as it gives you a clear idea of ​​what might be happening today. Breakout trading strategies work best when the price is above or below yesterday's range. Trend following strategies also work best in this situation. When the price is within yesterday's range, counter-trend strategies work better. Oscillators like RSI and Stochastic work best in this situation.

# ATR (Average true range)

Average True Range (ATR) is a technical analysis volatility indicator originally developed by J. Welles Wilder for commodities. The indicator does not show the price trend, but simply shows the degree of price volatility. The average true range is an N-day exponential moving average of the true range values. Wilder recommended a 14-period smoothing.

Average True Range can often reach a high value at the bottom of the market after a sheer fall in prices occasioned by panic selling. Low values of the indicator are typical for the periods of sideways movement of long duration which happen at the top of the market and during consolidation. Average True Range can be interpreted according to the same principles as other volatility indicators. The principle of forecasting based on this indicator can be worded the following way: the higher the value of the indicator, the higher the probability of a trend change; the lower the indicator’s value, the weaker the trend movement.

The ATR is commonly used as an exit method that can be applied regardless of how the entry decision is made. One popular technique that is known as "chandelier exiting" was developed by Chuck LeBeau. According to this technique, a trailing stop is placed below the highest high the stock has reached since you entered the trade. The distance between the highest high and the stop level is defined as multiple ATR values. For example, we can subtract three times the ATR value from the highest high since entering the trade.

## Calculation

The range of a day’s trading is simply *high – low*. The true range extends it to yesterday’s closing price if it was outside of today’s range:

*True range = max \[(high – low), abs (high – closeprev), abs (low – closeprev)]*

The true range is the largest of the:

* Most recent period's high minus the most recent period's low;
* Absolute value of the most recent period's high minus the previous close;
* Absolute value of the most recent period's low minus the previous close.

# HV (Historical volatility)

Historical volatility is a measure of how much the price deviates from the average over a period of time that can be set. The more the price fluctuates, the higher the indicator value. Note that it does not measure the direction of price change, but only how volatile the price is. There are several reasons why it is important to pay attention to volatility, but this is mainly related to identifying possible risks: if it rises, both risk and market volatility increase, and vice versa. Traders can use the indicator to mark an instrument with high volatility, which could indicate a change in trend. The indicator is most often used in combination with other signals.

In addition, Historical volatility can be utilized as an instrument by traders who only trade underlying financial instruments. Measuring market volatility can influence investor expectations about how much or to what extent the market might change and offers some guidance for making price predictions and executing trades.

## Calculation

In the classic sense, the historical volatility is determined by the following formula:

σ*std* – standard deviation of the asset prices, i.e. measure of the sweeping movement;

√T – bringing the volatility indicator to the specified period (most often to the annual value);

P*i* – price of *i* value (here can be one of four bar prices).

Generally, the standard deviation is calculated either in absolute values, i.e. in the prices of the specific asset, or relative values (%). The value of volatility allows assessing the riskiness of the asset based on the different factors:

* Liquidity – the lower the asset liquidity, the higher the volatility, since the amount of people willing to buy or sell the asset is less. For example, if to consider the commodity market, orange juice is much more volatile than the cotton market i.e. this instrument is subjected to a sharp surge in prices. If to consider the equities, then less liquid equities are also prone to such outbursts because a major player that comes again can effortlessly "inflate" the prices;
* The release of important reports – usually the volatility is sharply increased after the release of important reports, such as changes of the Fed interest rate, changes in the unemployment rate, quarterly reports about company’s profits, as well as data on oil and other;
* The economic situation in a particular country – the higher the uncertainty in the political and economic life of the country, the more risky the investments will be.

## Main parameters

* STD period – period of standard deviation, by default = 30;
* Volatility period – period of the volatility, measured in days, by default = 365;
* Sources prices for MA – Close, Open, High, Low, Medium, Typical, and Weighted;
* All history – if checked, the percentile calculation is realized using the whole history;
* History period – allows to set up a history period for the percentile calculation. 'All history' checkbox has priority when setting both, the checkbox and 'History period';

# SD (Standard deviation)

Standard deviation is a way of measuring price volatility by correlating a price range with its moving average. The higher the indicator value, the wider the spread between the price and its moving average, the more volatile the instrument and the more scattered price bars become. The lower the indicator value, the smaller the spread between the price and its moving average, the less volatile the instrument, and the closer the price bars become to each other. The standard deviation is used as part of other indicators such as Bollinger Bands. It is often used in combination with other signals and analysis methods.

The market behavior represents the interchange of high trading activity and languid market. So, the indicator can be interpreted easily:

* if its value is too low, i.e., the market is absolutely inactive, it makes sense to expect a spike soon;
* otherwise, if it is extremely high, it most probably means that activity will decline soon.

**Use of the Standard deviation indicator**

Using the probability distribution models allows you to create many trading strategies, but the most common use of the standard deviation indicator is to predict price reversals based on the principle of reversion to the mean. Retracement to the average is basically the principle on which oscillators like the Relative Strength Index are constructed. It argues that each deviation from the mean must be followed by a return to the same so that the overall distribution of prices fits the standard distribution.

For example, if a currency is oscillating between 1.2700 and 1.3700 for an extended period of time, with much of the movement bound in the middle of the range, you can trade the pattern by assuming mean regression on the basis of a standard distribution.

Conversely, if prices are clustered at the edges of the same range, for example, around 1.3600-1.3700, or 1.2700 and 1.2800, the probability distribution of the prices may not be standard, and using the standard deviation indicator for trading while assuming mean regression may be disastrous.

# MFI (Money flow index)

The Money Flow Index (MFI) indicator is a tool used in technical analysis to measure buying and selling pressure. This is done by analyzing both price and volume. The MFI calculation generates a value, which is then displayed as a line that moves in a range from 20 to 80 making it an oscillator. When the MFI rises, it indicates increased buying pressure. When it falls, it indicates increased pressure from sellers. The money flow index can generate several signals, primarily: overbought and oversold conditions, divergences, and unsuccessful fluctuations.

Oversold levels are usually found below 20 and overbought levels are above 80. These levels can change depending on market conditions. Level lines must cross the highest peaks and lowest troughs. Oversold/overbought levels are usually not a sufficient reason to buy/sell, and traders should consider additional technical analysis or research to confirm the security turning point. Be aware that during strong trends the MFI can remain overbought or oversold for extended periods of time. If the underlying price makes a new high or low that is not confirmed by the MFI, this divergence could signal a price reversal.

## Calculation

The Money Flow Index requires a series of calculations.

* First, the period's Typical Price is calculated: Typical Price = (High + Low + Close)/3;
* Next, Money Flow (not the Money Flow Index) is calculated by multiplying the period's Typical Price by the volume: Money Flow = Typical Price \* Volume;
* If today's Typical Price is greater than yesterday's Typical Price, it is considered Positive Money Flow. If today's price is less, it is considered Negative Money Flow;
* Positive Money Flow is the sum of the Positive Money over the specified number of periods. Negative Money Flow is the sum of the Negative Money over the specified number of periods;
* The Money Ratio is then calculated by dividing the Positive Money Flow by the Negative Money Flow: Money Ratio = Positive Money Flow / Negative Money Flow;
* Finally, the Money Flow Index is calculated using the Money Ratio.

# OBV (On balance volume)

On balance volume (OBV) is a technical trading momentum indicator that uses volume flow to predict changes in the price of a stock. Joseph Granville pioneered the OBV metric in the 1963 book 'Granville's New Key to Stock Market Profits'.

Granville believed that volume was the key force behind the markets and designed OBV to predict when major movements in the markets would occur based on changes in volume. In his book, he described the predictions made by OBV as “a spring being wound tightly”. He believed that when volume rises sharply without significantly changing the price of a stock, the price will eventually jump up or fall down.

Traders use the indicator to predict price movements or when they want to confirm price trends. The calculation is based on the discrepancy between price and volume.

Bullish divergence - when price declines and OBV rises at the same time, you can expect an upward movement. Accordingly, in a bullish divergence, the price will display lower lows, and the indicator - higher lows.

Bearish Divergence is defined when the price continues to rise while the OBV indicator is declining. When price makes higher highs and on-balance volume has lower highs, it is a sign of bearish divergence.

Trend Confirmation - to confirm the direction of the trend, see if the OBV line is moving in the same direction as the price. If on-balance volume increases with a price increase, you can confirm the uptrend and volume moves to support the price rise.

Potential breakout or breakdown from the ranging market - during ranging market conditions, you should watch closely for increases or decreases in on-board volume indicator values ​​as this could signal a potential price breakout or fall. The rising OBV line can warn of a potential breakout to the upside because accumulation is taking place.

# PVI (Positive volume index)

The Positive Volume Index was introduced by Norman Fosback and is often used in conjunction with the Negative Volume Index to identify bull and bear markets. It focuses on days where the volume increased from the previous day. The premise behind the PVI is that the “not-so-smart” money is most active on the higher volume days and is more emotionally reactive to movements in the market caused by higher volume. One should note that while this assumption may tend to be true overall, it is not always necessarily a fact, which can undermine the usefulness of the indicator.

The interpretation of the PVI is based on the assumption that on days with increasing trade volumes, the large-scale, crowd-following "uninformed" investors are in the market. On days with decreasing trade volumes, on the other hand, the "smart money" is quietly taking positions. In this way, the PVI is able to show the activity of the "not-so-smart" money.

The PVI is good at suggesting a bull market when it is above its one-year Moving Average, and still good in identifying a bear market when it is below its one-year Moving Average.

The Positive Volume Index is not currently applicable for intraday charts due to the nature of the data.

The Positive Volume Index is typically compared to a 255-period moving average of its value.

* When the index increases above this value, less informed traders (the crowd) have typically been buying, indicating the prices may continue to increase;
* When the index increases below this value, uninformed traders have typically been selling, indicating a possible decrease.

## Calculation

If today's volume is greater than yesterday's volume then:

PVI = Yesterday's PVI + (((Close - Yesterday's Close) / Yesterday's Close) + Yesterday's PVI)

If today's volume is less than or equal to yesterday's volume then:

PVI = Yesterday's PVI

Because rising prices are usually associated with rising volume, the PVI usually trends upward.

# Volume

Volume points to the amount of a financial instrument that was traded over a specified period of time. It can refer to shares, contracts, or lots. The data is tracked and provided by market exchanges. It is one of the oldest and most popular indicators and is usually plotted in colored columns, green for up volume and red for down volume. It is one of the few indicators that is not based on price. High volume points to a high interest in an instrument at its current price and vice versa.

A sudden increase in trading volume points to an increased probability of the price changing. News events are typical moments when the volume can increase. Strong trending moves go hand in hand with an increased trading volume. It can therefore be seen as a measure of strength. One would expect high buying volume at a support level and high selling volume at a resistance level. There are several ways to use volume in a trading strategy and most traders use it in combination with other analysis techniques.

# Didi index

The Didi Index is an oscillator based technical indicator designed for trading in the foreign exchange market. It is a powerful Indicator to trade in trending markets and to determine market reversals. It is used upon short term, medium term, and long term Moving Averages (MA) and provides insights to find the market turning point. It has two components, a green line which is the longer term CCI and a yellow line which is a short term CCI.

The yellow line responds to the trends faster than the green line - so when the market turns strongly Bullish the yellow line starts moving upwards faster than the green line. Likewise, when the market turns strongly Bearish the green line starts moving downwards faster than the yellow line.

The DIDI Index is calculated using the short term, medium term, and long term Moving Averages, the green line is calculated by dividing the short term Moving Average by the medium term Moving Average, likewise, the yellow line is calculated by dividing the long term Moving Averages by the medium term Moving Averages.

BUY - Traders can Buy when the green line is above the yellow line.

SELL - Traders can Sell when the green line is below the yellow line.

## Main parameters

* Fast line – short MA, 3 by default;
* Slow line – long MA, 20 by default;
* Media line – mid MA, 8 by defaultl
* Smoothing method: SMA, EMA, SMMA, LWMA, JJMA, JurX, ParMA, T3, VIDYA, AMA;
* Smoothing parameter – smoothing rate, 15 by default.

# EATR (Envelopes ATR)

Envelopes ATR is a technical indicator that displays upper and lower deviation bands of price from MA. It is calculated based on the average volatility of the instrument on the indicator ATR.

The middle band is the deviation band of price from MA. Upper and lower bands (blue and green by default) are deviation bands of ATR values from MA. Signal to sell appears when the price reaches the upper line of the middle band and a buy signal appears at the lower line.

## Main parameters

* Period of ATR: 14 by default;
* Smoothing method: SMA, EMA, SMMA, LWMA, JJMA, JurX, ParMA, T3, VIDYA, AMA;
* Source price: Close, Open, High, Low, Typical, Medium, Weighted;
* Smoothing depth: 14 by default;
* Smoothing parameter: 14 by default;&#x20;
* Deviation: 1 by default;
* Color pickers for selecting the band colors.
